My knee-jerk reaction is no, but something to think about. Two things: lack of discipline and the greater risk he has of serious health issues early in life.

    Feel sort of mean though.
I think Christie is to rough around the edges to get the final nod in the GOP. That style may suit him as a Governor, but I can't see it working for a much bigger audience.

And YES, as much as I hate to say it, his weight will be a factor. It's the superficial, social media driven society we live in today.

That is my opinion only, I have no links.

Hope anyone affected by this nasty winter storm stays safe.

    Happy Friday everyone.
    What??? No links????? You renegade.

Yeah it would be nice to see him drop some with weight. People with that degree of obesity often have underlying issues so who knows.

We finally broke through the racial discrimination barrier and elected a black president (sort of). Time we stopped discriminating against fat people. If a doctor determines Christie is healthy enough to assume the duties of the presidency then why should it matter?

    Flyboy--

Are you saying William Howard Taft wasn't fat?

Judging by this thread you would think we never have voted for a fat person.

Well it's not the same thing is it? Being fat is a choice and no doctor is going to give this guy a clean bill of health without the obvious caveat. His heart must be the size of a ham.

If he has Paul Ryan as his running mate should be no problem if he kicks the bucket while in office.

Why yes. I know if I were to get the R nomination the first thing I would be looking for would a running mate who had proven himself unable to carry his own state.

It shouldn't really but I imagine it will. He should probably go on a diet before he hits the national stage. Appearances are practically everything these days. Besides, his being fat is just more ammo for the usual suspects to use against him. And they will. You know they will.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but when are you guys going to realize that Paul Ryan is not electable? How many times does he have to finish at the bottom of the heap before reality sinks in?

I'm not entirely sure it shouldn't be held against him. Look at it this way, if you had a daughter and she was thinking of marrying man who was grossly over-weight, wouldn't you have some concerns? Longevity and obesity have a negative correlation, especially morbid obesity which is the case here.

You are probably right about that.

And Happy Friday to you too!!

Paul Ryan has his own health concerns based on his family history. That is a major reason he maintains such a vigorous exercise schedule. And while I disagree with him on many issues, I also wish him a very long and happy life.

We've had morbidly obese Presidents in the past. But our best Presidents tend to be drunks, skirt chasers or chronicly depressed.

Being a fat old fart myself, with two married daughters, one happily and one not so happily, it would seem, it would be somewhat hypocritical of me to opine too strongly on what is probably none of my business anyway. My ambitions for my children are that they be happy, whatever their domestic arrangements. So mostly I’m trying to help my youngest baby girl (she’s 29) piece her life back together after twelve years of a failed marriage and three grandkids that deserve better than what they’re getting out of their foolish parents. She married a tall skinny guy who refused to grow up and will no doubt live forever the eternal child-man. Had she married a fat guy who made her happy and could play the part of a grown man (husband, dad, and a fair pinochle partner for the old man), I wouldn’t have had a single complaint. Happiness is all I ask of God in regards to my children and grandchildren, not fame nor fortune nor perfection.

I find bullmikey's posts more pleasant to read than your incessant whining about evil righties.

I'm betting on this economy tanking by the end of Obama's term and the country in over $20T further in debt for people to realize enough is enough. "It's the debt stupid."

So what, are you siding with the enemies of freedom now?
