I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there was no fair catch on a punt. I know that neither team had a fair catch in the game. What I have no idea about it whether that has happened in another game since 1986. But since I have no other idea's, I will go with that.

The Ravens won the coin toss and Harbaugh elected to take the ball starting the 2nd half?

I heard someone refer to Koch's "game winning punt" the other day. Has any other Superbowl ended with a punt? Did anybody have that prop bet?

Good riddance to the Gatorade Bath! It's been played out for at least 20 years.

Yup!! I assume because it came down to the last play they players didn't get a chance to do it. They were busy running around. Vegas was actually taking bets on what color the liquid would be

How boring to have to watch as the camera's follow whatever buffoons are getting the 'bath' together.

And then the stupidity and possible hazards, such as George Allen at Long Beach State

'Allen's death may have been indirectly caused by a Gatorade shower. He died on December 31, 1990, from ventricular fibrillation in his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California, at the age of 72. Shortly before his death, Allen noted that he had not been feeling well since some of his Long Beach State players dumped a Gatorade bucket filled with ice water on him following a season-ending victory over the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on November 17, 1990 (he remarked that the university couldn't afford actual Gatorade).
The sports editor of the Long Beach State newspaper, the Daily Forty-Niner, was on the field that day and recalled that the temperature was in the 50s with a biting wind. Allen stayed on the field for media interviews for quite a while in his drenched clothing, and boarded the bus back to Long Beach State soaking wet.' (from wiki)

Something else didn't happen. It involves the physical playing of the game. I don't have the facts available to me but I'm sure we would all agree this is rare. In fact I can't say I can ever remember this not happening in a game. It probably has but it would be extremely rare. (hint: it almost happened....and it could've influenced the game)

There wasn't a single holding penalty called in the Super Bowl.

    That's correct !
No Holding calls the entire game.
No Holding on Offense, no Holding on Defense, no Holding on Special Teams.

By my count there were a total of 162 plays in the game.
    The 4th and 5 Play was Play# 157.
And if Holding didn't occur on the 156 plays prior to the 4th and 5 Play then Holding didn't occur on that play either.

As Athletes and Coaches, in any sport, all you can really do is ask the Officials to be consistant.
And in this case they were.
    I commend the Officials.

Yeah it's weird but I can see why they wouldn't since it would just be a waste of time in that situation.
