ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ)—A 25-year-old Annapolis woman is charged with killing her 2-year-old daughter Thursday.

Wednesday, a concerned citizen contacted Annapolis Police Department about 2-year-old Kassidey Capri Booth, whom the citizen had not seen in several days.

Detectives say Kassidey’s mother, Chelsea Booth, killed her earlier this week and disposed of the body.

Chelsea Booth has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse resulting in death.

The poor child's body has been found in the garbage.

The body of a 2-year-old Annapolis girl was found Thursday night in garbage bound for a Virginia landfill, police said, and documents charging her mother with first-degree murder say Chelsea Booth admitted to smothering her daughter and dumping the body.

Police were awaiting results of an autopsy of Kassidey Capri Booth performed Friday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, hoping to learn if it supports what 25-year-old Booth told detectives earlier in the week.

Questioned by investigators following a tip that the girl had not been seen in a few days, Booth said the girl's father put a "Muslim curse" on her and that she "believed Kassidey to be possessed by an evil spirit," according to charging documents. Booth said that on Monday or Tuesday "she murdered Kassidey by laying on top of her and smothering her until Kassidey stopped breathing and showed no signs of life," the charges allege. She wrapped the body in a blanket and put it in a trash bin by her home, the documents allege.

In all seriousness my good sir, I wish I was wrong. There are few things more sickening than this and it horrifies me to think that there are those people out there just salivating at the thought of justifying this kind of crime.

I would greatly appreicate it if someone in the local media would call this crime for what it is, if someone in the Judiciary would condemn this crime. That being said, it ain't gonna happen.

BUT...Wait for it....

(and I hope I am wrong)...Let us assume that she did do it, and let us assume that the Circuit Court finds her guilty (by a jury of her peers). How long do you think it will take before the Court of Appeals reverses that and demands re-trial after re-trial after re-trial after re-trial until they get their desired verdict of 'not guilty?'

Yes, there are cases where convictions are overturned, but I'd guess a majority of convicted criminals have there sentences upheld, even if they do appeal.

In the later 1970's, I used to bike commute from Hillsmere Shores to my job as a cook at an upper Main St. eatery. (Arnold's). Winter & Summer. On more than one incedents, cycling home, I was pelted with rocks, or whatever was handy, from young gangs from the Ben's Drive Public Housing Community. Eventually, City Hall put up some high fences up around the wooded area. Seemed to work for awhile.

Oh well...

...and, the Great Society marches ever onwards, to this day...
