Default Seriously, You Want To See Less Concussions

I'm not a Doctor or don't claim to be an expert but it seems to me if you take away speed from one object the chance of a higher impact on collision will be reduced. So if you allow the db to stay in contact with the receiver after 5 yards, allow for hitting to slow them up....than maybe this will reduce the injury to people. I know you may see some injuries but the slower the receiver the lesser the impact. Maybe the old style of man to man should come back. Daryl Stinger did get hurt bad but it just seems the head injuries are more prevalent today. You can still call the hit to the head penalty but if the db aims for the chest and the wr helmet comes down and makes contact it should not be a penalty. Just saying.

By the way I would love to see the stats on injuries before the 5 yard rule and after.

Most of the injuries are caused by a safety or LB running up full-speed and making contact. The CBs' speed relative to the WR is usually minimal. It's the second guy who does the damage.

For some reason rugby does not have this problem. Remove pads and wear leather helmets. Players quit using their heads as weapons. Problem solved.

Testing for HGH will help...until the chemists come up with the next PED.

Seriously, in rugby if you hit above the armpits and use your head without wrapping up you are thrown out of the game.
