    Default Statues....

There has been quite a bit of talk about a Ray Lewis statue as of late. In the wake of this talk a push for a Lenny Moore statue has been brought up.

We put up statues of all of our Orioles HOFers so why not just do the same for the Colts. There are a few more HOF Colt/Raven players than O's but I think it can be worked out.

I also don't think Ray should have a statue until he's in the HOF, JO should get one first, he's already in.

I think Unitas is the only Colt who should have a statue, just like he's the only player named from the Colts in the RoH.

It is, after all, Ravens stadium and I think the focus needs to be on the players who actually play there. I get the importance of honoring the past and making sure the bond between Baltimore and the Colts doesn't slip away with time, but if they're going to do something like that, do it on the Ravens walk or somewhere else close by.

Let the history of the Ravens, which is shaping up to be very bit as legendary as the Colts, if not more so, stand on its own.

Dont want to overkill it. Before long we'll have a bronze army at the stadiums and that just sounds kind of creepy if you ask me

    LEGENDS LANE!

    ...is the answer!!

Change "Ravens Walk" into LEGENDS LANE and line either side with statues of former Baltimore Football greats who are in the Hall Of Fame leading into Unitas Plaza.

The 1st two "Positions of Honor" (the 1st two spots before you cross the street to Unitas Plaza) should be reserved for the Ravens first two draft choices and Hall Of Fame inductees, Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis.

The other spots should be filled in with old and new. Ed Reed will be a sure bet, maybe Suggs and Ngata and others...

Former Baltimore Hall Of Famers, Jim Parker, Gino Marchetti, Art Donovan, Lenny Moore, Raymond Berry, John Mackey and Ted Hendricks should be represented and their statues staggered so a Raven Hall Of Famer can be opposite. Do NOT put "colts" and do NOT show a horse shoe..totally unnecessary. Another benefit of staggering the statues is that initially the project would seem more substantial and give all an idea of the big picture of the project.

Statues would line LEGENDS LANE on pedestals with their individual accomplishments on a plaque on the front of the pedestal. Street lamps high above would illuminate each statue and help keep vandals away.

Network TV Camera's would walk down LEGENDS LANE passing all of our football greats as they stand guard leading into Unitas Plaza...quite impressive and unique.

Theres already a Facebook page galvanizing support for this incredible and unique tribute for ALL of Baltimore's Hall Of Fame legends.

    Marchetti,

Sort of what i was thinking. They are part of Baltimore Football history. It would be nice to honor or recognize them similar to what we did with the O's.

the only disagreement I have with this idea, is to exclude the horse shoe and Colts name. they were Colts, they were a respected organization and a huge part of Baltimore's identity. Baltimore football has 2 teams, they shouldn't be amalgamated. it takes away from their individual identities and accomplishments.

Enough with all the statues. Geez! There are only 10 football games a year and less than half the people would pass them to and from the game. Baseball has 81 games and is a casual game where people take time in between innings to walk around and admire the elements.
Statue for 52 and end it. I just hope its not placed on the "dead" end of the stadium.

Sorry, but I don't get the whole statue hype at all. These are professional athletes who excelled at their jobs, excited and entertained us, but that doesn't make them immortal heroes. I think Unitas is different and deserving because he represented an ethic and an era that is past and led the NFL into the big time, but other than that, I think the ring of honor is an appropriate and sufficient memorial to a player's contributions.
