Your favorite/least favorite NFL commentators, writers, analysts, or broadcasters

Doesn't matter what network they work for. Who do you enjoy listening to? Who drives you insane?

For analysis, I actually think Trent Dilfer is tough to beat. Always very thorough, generally impartial, and very very smart. Eric Mangini is also very good when he's a guest on ESPN radio. I also like Shannon Sharpe and, surprisingly, Deion Sanders, though for those two it's more about their personality than anything.

I like a number of commentators well enough, but Phil Simms makes me crazy.

As for writers, I don't think there's anyone better in the business than Peter King. His MMQB column is great, and I really like his takes on things.

Billick is good too. I would still take Dilfer over him for insight on offensive schemes and quarterback analysis though.

No, Phil Simms is by far the worst. Dierdorff has the potential to always step up and deliver a terrible performance (Ravens/Broncos), but Phil Simms is terrible every single week.

One of my favorites who you rarely see is Gus Johnson. He makes a screen pass seem exciting.

I want to rid the airways with the homers and haters. Dierdorj is terrible, Aikman one of the best. I want to hear what Dilfer and especially what Jaws say before ,during and after a game. These two really dissect a game the best and give a fair analogy. As for being just fun you can't beat Bradshaw but I really like Collingsworth as well. I just hate it when Simms or Dierdorf are doing games I watch. Dierdorf loves NE, the Colts, Miami and a couple more but Simms and he also didlike the Ravens

I'm with you, man. It doesn't make a big impact on me when the broadcasters say something incorrect, biased or otherwise obnoxious. I just make note that I don't agree and move on. I personally kind of like Chuckie (John Gruden).

I like Johnson a lot, I don't know why Fox is under-utilizing him in the NFL coverage.

I rarely watch pre-game shows, but Shannon Sharpe has always been entertaining on CBS, just as he was when he was an active player.

Fouts was very unprofessional doing the Ravens/Chargers game. One of the absolute worst announced games I've ever watched. He made no attempt to hide his bias. Definately changed my opinion of him.
I didn't used to like Aikman but you are correct that he's knowledgeable and I respect that.

Aikman is a Cowboy homer. As long as he is doing a game not involving an NFC East team I can handle him. Most announcers who played for their former team are awful when covering their ex-team.

Simms actually bugs me the most of all the side-kicks. Dierdorf is a close second.

Fouts usually doesn't annoy me like he does most people.

Drives me nuts when there's something I think is blatantly obvious on a replay, and the broadcast guys ignore it. Like Dierdorf's take on the Manning fumble in the DEN playoff game. The slo-mo CLEARLY showed that the ball was already pulled all the way down. Peyton had stopped his tucking motion. The "process of the tuck" was over before the ball came out. That was clear on replay. Once it's actually "tucked"... it's fair game. But he went on and on about how it was going to be / should be over-turned.
