No, I do recycle but I should not be charged to separate my trash. The town charged us for an extra bin (recycle) and then added an additional fee each month to pick it up. What I guess I am trying to say is, it is still the same amount of trash but now separated for an extra fee.

think of all the jobs you create when comingling trash.....There are people out there who make a living dumpster diving and trash picking for recyclables.

by NOT seperating your trash, you are "creating or saving" jobs. Heck, YOU should be obama's next Jobs czar....

The trash pickup when I lived in Baltimore was by far the visible best service I got. Those guys were efficient and seemed to take their job really seriously.

"On the front page of The Baltimore Sun an article titled "Report says city is facing nearly $750 million deficit", dated 2/7/13 states "Rawlings-Blake moved to overhaul the pension system in 2010". The article fails to mention that there are three pension systems in Baltimore City and the only system that the Mayor overhauled was the Fire and Police system. The overhaul was later challenged by the Fire and Police unions and the unilateral changes were found to be unconstitutional by a Federal judge. The article goes on to say that the consulting firm criticized a legal fight over public safety pensions. Am I to believe by that statement that the consulting firm is ok with circumventing the U.S. Constitution when the mood strikes? Well,we aren`t! What Bob Cherry stated in the article is absolutely correct in that major concessions were offered but those offerings were rejected. Beginning July 1st of 2013 the members of the F&P will be contributing 80% more in employee contributions than they were four years ago and just last year our members saw their health care premiums rise over 65% from the preceding year. The projected deficit, how real or unreal it may be is not because the members of the fire and police departments are unwilling to give. We have and then some!"

Several items here:

You expect the Sun to actually investigate and report the truth? Kind of hard to do when their writers and reporters have their heads so far up the Mayor's backside.

The Mayor and City Council have never felt that the constitution applied to them, unless it was one of those times that the constitution actually benefitted them. Even when the courts tell the City that they are wrong, the City just ignores them and no one seems to care.

Get used to the fact that the Police and FD are going to be paying more and more for less and less. The City has made it clear that they don't give a rat's bottom about their Officers. (Oh, and the 'act' given by the Mayor over the accidental shooting wasn't fooling anyone (except maybe a Sun employee)).
