Default National News forum thread subjects

As I scanned down this forum for something to look into, I noticed that of the 20 threads, majority of them are crime related and also does not encourage quality discussion. Check it out (3:30pm, 2/14/13): robber killed, murder, gay, child porn, robbery, whites tell black lie

I guess most of these are started by a handful of individuals who seem to focus on this, but still... it's not a pretty picture and it hurts discussion

Default Unicorns Are Real: North Korean Media

    http://www.ibtimes.com/unicorns-are-...n-media-912156

"In an article from the Korean Central News Agency entitled “Lair of King Tongmyong's Unicorn Reconfirmed,” archaeologists from the History Institute of the DPRK [North Korea] Academy of Social Sciences discovered the lair near the Yongmyong Temple in Moran Hill in Pyongyang City.

The unicorn was allegedly owned by King Tongmyong, who founded the Koguryo Kingdom which lasted from B.C. 277 BC to 668 AD."

Funny that researcher would post here on this thread. But hey, at lest his link works this time (I suppose).

    Good point, Spot.

I've never understood how a thread that would be moved to Locals becomes of national importance just because it happened in another state.

    It's somebody else's local news.

I mean, why is it that they call it "taking a dump" and not "leaving a dump"? After all, it's not like you're taking it anywhere.

Don't worry, as long as you don't make the mistake of disagreeing with a mod or one of the mod-buddy protected posters, your thread and/or post will be fine.

    Ideology still counts, I see:

"No, Marco Rubio, government did not cause the housing crisis"
    http://talk.baltimoresun.com/showthread.php?t=327820

YES, Marco Rubio, government DID cause the housing crisis"
    http://talk.baltimoresun.com/showthread.php?t=327857

Yet post #65 barely hit the page before it was merged into this Benghazi thread and it has nothing to do with Benghazi:

Panetta: Obama Absent Night of Benghazi...Hillary Was AWOL
    http://talk.baltimoresun.com/showthr...=327614&page=2

That might be what prompted this thread.

I saw that and figured it's a doppelganger.

    The same poster.

I don't understand the complaint for Locals.

    It's always been that way.

But this National Forum now looks a lot, topic-wise, like the Local forum.

Why was the OP's thread about Panetta's leaving merged into the Benghazi thread?

That only makes room for more crap threads.

    Cameron--

I don't know why those threads were merged. I did merge the two Marco Rubio threads you mentioned, but I honestly didn't see the second one yesterday, and nobody reported it.

Merging is an affirmative action by the moderators.

It was a moderator's decision to merge the OP's unrelated thread into Benghazi.

And if somebody did report it, why would the moderators knee-jerk and side with the reporting person without first checking it out?

Again, the OP's thread was merged into Benghazi and it has ZERO to do with Benghazi.

(I see the Marco Rubio threads have now been merged, the next day.)

Yes, I just said I had merged them. If I have to say it again, I honestly did not see the second thread on that topic until you pointed it out.

As far as the thread merged into the Benghazi thread, I did not merge that and I can't speak as to why that was merged. I don't recall a complaint about it. And yes, we do weight complaints, some of which we don't act upon.

Perhaps the foul language in the thread title didn't help it.

    Precisely my own suspicion.

Of course that means you are censoring the CBSNews because it's their actual title.

    Too racy for ya?

Ridiculous right? My thread had nothing to do with the thread that it was merged with. That thread was merged by mom49of4.

Ironically enough, this thread is a complete waste and offers no quality discussion of its own. Good job Spot. Lol

There wouldn't be any need for a thread like this if the other threads consisted of quality discussion. I often read talking points and outright lies in the Nationals. Serious and truthful discussions hardly ever happen.
