Default METEORITE CRASH IN RUSSIA: Fireball Explosion Wreaks Havoc, Up To 500 Injured

METEORITE CRASH IN RUSSIA; UFO FEARS SPARK PANIC

Meteorite hits Russian Urals: Fireball explosion wreaks havoc, up to 500 injured (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Russia’s Urals region has been rocked by a meteorite explosion in the stratosphere. The impact wave damaged several buildings, and blew out thousands of windows amid frigid winter weather. Hundreds are seeking medical attention for minor injuries.

According to unconfirmed reports, the meteorite was intercepted by an air defense unit at the Urzhumka settlement near Chelyabinsk. A missile salvo blew the meteorite to pieces at an altitude of 20 kilometers, local newspaper Znak reports quoting a source in the military.

Regnum news agency quoted a military source who claimed that the vapor condensation trail of the meteorite speaks to the fact that the meteorite was intercepted by air defenses.

NASA to Chronicle Close Earth Flyby of Asteroid
PASADENA, Calif. -- NASA Television will provide commentary starting at 11 a.m. PST (2 p.m. EST) on Friday, Feb. 15, during the close, but safe, flyby of a small near-Earth asteroid named 2012 DA14. NASA places a high priority on tracking asteroids and protecting our home planet from them. This flyby will provide a unique opportunity for researchers to study a near-Earth object up close.

The half-hour broadcast from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., will incorporate real-time animation to show the location of the asteroid in relation to Earth, along with live or near real-time views of the asteroid from observatories in Australia, weather permitting.

At the time of its closest approach to Earth at approximately 11:25 a.m. PST (2:25 p.m. EST / 19:25 UTC), the asteroid will be about 17,150 miles (27,600 kilometers) above Earth's surface.
    FRIDAY: 2:24 PM EST
BOSTON, Feb 14 (Reuters) - A newly discovered asteroid about half the size of a football field will pass nearer to Earth than any other known object of its size on Friday, giving scientists a rare opportunity for close-up observations without launching a probe.

At its closest approach, which will occur at 2:24 p.m. EST/1924 GMT, the asteroid will pass about 17,200 miles (27,520 km) above the planet traveling at 8 miles (13 km) per second, bringing it nearer than the networks of television and weather satellites that ring the planet.

Although Asteroid 2012 DA14 is the largest known object of its size to pass this close, scientists say there is no chance of an impact, this week or in the foreseeable future.

    Bush's fault.

Or it was caused by Global Warming.

We must immediately look at ways to pass a law preventing meteors from hitting the Earth.

Think of the children. We owe them a vote.

The air defense interception sounds a lot like propaganda. That thing would have been traveling upwards of 20,000-30,000 mph or more. I highly doubt Russia (or any country, for that matter) is capable of intercepting something traveling that fast with almost zero preparation time.

Meteors regularly explode due to immense and immediate heat generation upon entering the atmosphere. I find that much more plausible than Russia shooting it down.

That was amazing!. All of that energy getting turned into light and heat. Those videos with the sound are eye opening. Can't wait to see more videos as they come in.

I'm guessing it would take a little time for anyone who witnessed something like that to register what exactly it was that just happened. The light and noise would be unlike anything ever witnessed, unless you've seen a nuclear test.

Anyone who saw the movie Kingdom of Heaven will not be taken in by this obvious coverup. It was no "meteorite". It was a Muslim fireball attack!

US tested new weapon, no meteor in Chelyabinsk – Russian LibDem leader

Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the head of the Russian Liberal-Democratic Party, said that no meteor fell in the Urals on Friday – the US “tested a new weapon” over the region, he claimed.

“You’re like some primitive tribe. What meteorite?” he said, adding that space is a “universe that has its own laws.” Zhirinovsky is a politician well-known for making similar eccentric statements. “When something falls – it’s man-made. People are warmongers and provocateurs,” he explained. . .

Despite the party's name, it is frequently described as "neither liberal nor democratic." While the party describes itself as centrist and reformist, it is usually regarded as far-right and is identified with Russian ultranationalism, right-wing populism (or "national populism") and conservativism. Its ideology is based primarily on Zhirinovsky's ideas of "imperial reconquest" (a "renewed Russian Empire") and authoritarian vision of a 'Greater Russia.'"

Clearly everyone here has no understanding of this event. It simply was Jor_El's son's arrival here to take the lead on getting rid of all of the evil and nonsene going on in the world.....
