Liberal or conservative - I think it depends on the issue.

Had dinner with some folks that are in the same situation as my wife and I, ie, approaching retirement age...so where to retire to, how much is enough to live on, health care costs, etc.....and we all were thinking along the same lines when it came to taxes. When a person has to live out the remainder of their life on a fixed income, every new tax increase becomes a big deal.

So, while I may be a "liberal" on some issues, I am very conservative when it comes to spending and tax issues.

Yeah, I think maybe people become more conservative when it comes to financial matters as they get older, but probably become more liberal on social issues. However, most people vote with their wallet, so I think more people's votes swing towards the conservative side as they get older.

The lines tend to be blurred for most people on economic issues. There's more overlap. One of the frustrating things about our political fights over economics in this country is how both sides are not very far apart but can't seem to reach a compromise.

Social issues is where there's a clearer distinction between the Left and Right
