I'm sure other teams have some plays that either went their way or didn't that made the difference in their season. The Ravens got the benefit of those plays, and then parlayed that into a great post-season run. Next year, maybe they don't get those breaks. Or maybe the do. Bottom line is that there are no head and shoulders above the rest teams, it is the ones who get the breaks and the ones who make the most of them that usually end up champions. The Giants of last year can certainly understand this as well.
Yes, but on the other hand...

If the referees had not blown three calls in Philadelphia, that could be a win.
If C. Williams had jumped another inch, the 'Skins don's score the TD and lose
    If ... If ... If

LeBeau is playing a typical Squealers game - if my aunt had a pair down below, she'd be my uncle!

The season to me boiled down to one game. The Steelers had the Bengals at home and a win would put them in the playoffs. They had Ben and Troy and could not get it done. They were not a good team this year.

Some of these posts are funny. The weeping and gnashing of teeth around here when the Steelers won the SB in 2008 was epic along with all of the Cardinal Avatars.

    On to 2013.

Kind of what is going on right now with plenty of Pittsburgh fans.

True, there are some but I think it is silly on both sides. Most NFL games are won or lost by a few plays. The Steelers had their opportunity and did not make them. The Ravens did and won the cup. Congrats to them.

My hostility is toward the team who had the Bengals at home for the playoffs and did not get it done.

Overall, fans are pretty much the same everywhere. We only focus on certain groups because of rivalries, grudges, etc.

But I think LeBeau is right. Had the Steelers made a few more plays here and there and gotten in to the playoffs, they could have won it all too. Just like I think pretty much every other Ravens team that's made it in since 2001 (except maybe the '03 gang, Anthony Wright very likely wasn't going to play 4 straight games without a few KILLER turnovers) COULD have won it all with a few key plays here or there, maybe one less turnover, etc.

But that's why the Steelers have the most Lombardi trophies... they get in more than just about anybody else. It's why the Ravens now have two now in 17 seasons, which is a pretty good start to their history here. They've made it in 9 times in 17 years (over 50%). Take away the first 4 years, when Ozzie was basically rebuilding the roster, and they've gotten in 9 times in 13 seasons. Only the Pats have MORE titles since 2000, and if not for some big FGs in the playoffs, they might not have that many. But it all comes back to... just a few plays often separate the SB champion from the pack of contenders.

It's a beautiful thing the Ravens have going right now. If they keep up this pace for another decade, they'll probably have one or two more. If they get some breaks, maybe they get on a Pats or Steelers like run where they get 2 in 3 years, or 3 in 4 years, something magical like that. The Steelers run their organization the right way. The Ravens have basically tried to copy that model (keep your crown jewels, don't over-extend on gambles, and build through the draft).

As mine would have been too in the same situation.

I may pull for one team in the SB but I don't get upset say if Pittsburgh wins one. It's out of my control and I just don't care that much. I have much more important things to worry about.

    Exactly.
