    Default Anti-whaling activists ...attacked

While I kind of admire their efforts on protecting whales, I find it kind of hard to feel sorry for them for being on the receiving end this time.

Anti-whaling activists say they were attacked by Japanese ships
Hong Kong (CNN) -- The anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd said ships from the Japanese whaling fleet attacked its vessels, ramming them and hurling concussion grenades.
"There's been the most outrageous attack on the Sea Shepherd Australia ships today," said Bob Brown, a member of the board of directors of Sea Shepherd Australia, describing it as the "worst incident" the group had experienced since one of its vessels sank two years ago.
In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Brown said that a large Japanese factory ship, the Nisshin Maru, had repeatedly rammed Sea Shepherd ships in the Southern Ocean near Antarctica where it was trying to refuel and that a Japanese government escort vessel had directed water cannon and lobbed concussion grenades at the activists.
He claimed the Japanese ships had intruded into Australian territorial waters and breached both international and Australian law.

While I am not endorsing the killing of these whales, I have seen a few of the "whale wars" episodes.

Those filthy hippies on those ships do everything they can to stop the Japanese from legally harvesting whales. They toss stink bombs and other projectiles, try to tangle topes in the Japanese ship props, etc....In fact, that sea shepherd group has been charged in Austrailia and other Nations with crimes due to their attacks on the Japanese whaling fleet...

The "whale warriors" are out there in the middle of nowhere, all idealistic and apparently on some romantic crusade. Actually they pay their way onto the boats, so it is sort of activist tourism..... The Japanese are trying to make a living. No wonder the Japs attacked the filthy hippies....

All that "filthy hippy" nonsense aside, did you read the article? Are you OK with the Japanese ship crossing into Aussie waters and attacking a ship that's refueling? If that's really how the event went down you're OK with that?

On a side note, shame on Japan for exploiting the loophole in the whaling law, and shame on the rest of the world for not closing it a long time ago.

If you want to stop the whaling you need to go to the government of Japan and get that "loophole" closed. Till then they are within the law. The filthy hippies are not. The Japanese ships typically show restraint when dealing with these idiots. The hippies get whatever is coming to them.

Those "filthy hippies" endanger lives and property at sea. They are no better than pirates and should be treated as such.
