Default Cardinal Roger Mahony shouldn't vote for new pope, some say

    No Shame..............

VATICAN CITY - "Popular pressure is mounting in the U.S. and Italy to keep former Los Angeles Archbishop Cardinal Roger Mahony away from the conclave to elect the next pope because of his role shielding sexually abusive priests, a movement targeting one of the most prominent of a handful of compromised cardinals scheduled to vote next month. Amid the outcry, Mahony has made clear he is coming, and no one can force him to recuse himself."

"Last month, a court in Los Angeles ordered the release of thousands of pages of confidential personnel files of more than 120 priests accused of sex abuse. The files show that Mahony and other top archdiocese officials maneuvered behind the scenes to shield accused priests and protect the church from a growing scandal while keeping parishioners in the dark."

Why not, can we say with any certainty that the rest of them are any better?

That's up to popular pressure to decide.

    Interesting.

I have a theory --- though every single religion in the world disagrees --- that Mohammed represents the Holy Spirit.

That the Koran could be the third book of the Trinity.

Actually, Muslims believe that the "Comforter" Jesus spoke of is Muhammad, while Christians believe he was speaking of the Holy Spirit.

Also, in the broader sense of whether they are preparing the world for the second coming or for the worldwide caliphate, their purpose seems the same.

You've been watching too much of Obama and his friends! It appears Mohammed shouldn't be allowed to vote in any conclave as he had an appetite for children as well!

    Sahih Bukhari 5.236.
    Narrated Hisham's father:
"Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed there for two years or so and then he married 'Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed that marriage when she was nine years old."

Mohammed was merely following the path of God's chosen people.

Come and hear! A maiden aged three years and a day may be acquired in marriage by coition, and if her deceased husband's brother cohabits with her, she becomes his.

Really???? So the Holy Spirit decided not to "win" when it came to thousands of victims molested by the pedophiles priests of the Catholic Church.

Ridiculous. There is no legitimate reason why the Cardinal should not vote in the conclave.

The criticism of Mahony's participation in the conclave might have a little to do with this:

The scandal in L.A. is similar to the scandal in Boston that eventually led Cardinal Bernard Law to resign as archbishop of Boston. One key difference is that, for years, Cardinal Mahony successfully fought the release of key personnel documents relating to his administration’s handling of abuse cases. Ultimately, a judge ordered their release.
READ: Cardinal Mahony Says He’s ‘Scapegoat’ in Scandal
The documents were so damning the current Archbishop of Los Angeles, Jose Gomez, issued a public rebuke of his predecessor. Gomez said Cardinal Mahony would no longer perform any public duties on behalf of the archdiocese.
For an archbishop to publicly upbraid a cardinal – who outranks him in the church hierarchy – was without precedent in recent history.

Nothing will change until Rome wakes up and realizes this problem is criminal and as such is more than a just public embarrassment. Haul these perverts out and show them the inside of a courtroom. Until then, Rome can rot in hell.

Mahoney(not cardinal) is as gulity as the men(not preist)who sodomized and molested young boys and girls. Maybe some Catholics will say enough is enough.

I agree, but only if moral and ethical reasons are not to be considered legitimate reasons.

It would be funny in a sad and tragic way if he would himself be elected as the next Pope by the conclave.

The smart money on why the Pope is resigning has everything to do with the Legion of Christ and the evidence that's been turned over to the Rhode Island courts. I've been telling you all for nearly two years to follow the money to the scumbags that are keeping the Vatican afloat.

For the umpteenth time here's the thought question: how does an institution that has paid out two billion dollars and counting on rape cases (the term child abuse just doesn't cut it), an institution with almost no mass attendance and all the costs of normal maintenance continue to stay afloat at a time every government is fending off bankruptcy? Dan Browne called out the wrong holy order. Google Jason Berry Legionnaires of Christ for the answer. Benedict's resignation is an attempt to wallpaper a s+!thouse.
