I commend Ms. Laxalt for not putting her business in the streets and raising her son. If this happened the side piece would be giving interviews to anyone who would listen.

Fat cat lobbyist has secret love child of powerful US Senator.![]()
Term limits now!
The huge difference between the two revelations of fatherhood:
1. One politician knew about his child for over 30 years and kept quiet while publicly pushing family values. The married man of family values with 8 children with his wife, did not have any relationship with this child in all the 30 years (t least that is how I read it). He would have kept the dirty little secret had someone not found out about it and leak it to the press.
2. The other politician, who was not married, only knew he was the father of his child (by this time, an adult child) about three years ago and from that point on, had obviously developed good relations with her. The "I love you" comment to her during the SOTU was quite touching.

In her own statement to the paper, Michelle Laxalt said she asked Domenici to “agree that this remain private between the two of us.” She raised the son, Adam Paul Laxalt, as a single mother. According to past Virginia voter registration records, he was born in August 1978, 35 years ago. Michelle Laxalt would have been 24 at the time; Domenici would have been 46.
Good for him. And the title really should be 'Former" US Senator.Adam Laxalt is not commenting on his parents’ relationship.
“I have lived my entire life as a private citizen and intend to remain one,” he said. “I plan to address personal issues privately and will not be commenting or joining any public discussion.”

I think your final comment is debatable. I see your point, although I used the past tense, and when this happened they were both senators.

We all strive to find perfection in our political leaders. Seldom do we find it. Once we come to realize that they are fallible human beings like ourselves are we more likely to give them a pass.
Wait a minute. Cohen's tweets to the beautiful bikini-clad Texas model seem to indicate more than fatherly love for a daughter.
Isn't this the guy who called for Clinton's impeachment and criticized his actions with Lewinsky?
Hypocrisy, thy name is GOP.
Hypocrisy, thy name is Domenici.
My children are my legacy.
But he's not the only one. Gingrich is another.
Anthony Weiner is another.
My children are my legacy.
And let's not forget Ted Kennedy. No telling how many kids he fathered. We do know one girl he never had a child with, and unfortunately for her she didn't live long enough to get married and have children. Oh praise the hypocritical Kennedy's!
I don't expect politicians to be perfect and squeaky clean. What I do expect is for them to practice what they preach. If they are pointing fingers at someone else for doing something immoral, in this case - adultery, then, by all means, they need to be squeaky clean in the adultery department.
