And yet three people will see/feel three different things.

Again. Artist statements. I've read them and have often thought, "Say what??" It just doesn't matter.

LOL. You could probably find Red Chinese "art" devoted to that. Political "art" that furthers a political message is rarely any good and has a short shelf-life.

It's Haussner's restaurant art. I look at that stuff and think of musty sofas. But then again I'm of the age where I would.

The very idea that 50 people can look at it and see 50 different things is how it's supposed to be.

Not one person saying, "It's this" because what's the point?

    Take a photo.

    Thanks.

    I agree.

If you think artists never describe their work, and meaning of their work, then you know little about art and artists.

Just admit, this piece touched a nerve for many on this board. The pithy responses are poorly manufactured.

It's good to once again see that paranoia isn't a strictly "rightie" affliction.

Art isn't right or wrong. It may be good or bad but it's all subjective. I think it's maudlin and predictable and shows little technique, but that's me. I'm not right or wrong. Good Lord let's not start politicizing art!!!

You are correct. However, I for one hasn't once said that it is. I'm surprised that others seem to believe it to be.

How do you NOT politicize a piece of art titled, "Sculpture of the Unborn Child????"

    It is a political statement.

So what? I guess I mean that the quality of the piece is separate from its meaning.

I think I'm the one who should say, "So what?"

Which do you object to the forum discussing?

I'm sorry that you can't separate the two.

It would be facile to do it.

I've seen paintings of the end of Joan of Arc.

I don't object at all. Just think saying it's dreadful art is completely unrelated to its message.
