OMG. She pleaded guilty, what, 4 years ago to not having the proper building permit. Sounds like this case has been settled....so, how is her house not in order - today? Is there pending litigation?

I bet most home owners, who've ever done a bathroom or kitchen rennovation, add on a deck, etc, etc ....did so with no permit, and are guilty of the same act.

It is my understanding that the main purpose for the building permit is to protect you, the home owner, from future litigation and, for any future insurance claims on said improvements/construction....without which, insurance companies can deny all claims on.

Maybe she can elaborate on the 2009 incident, since she is the CE.

As far as permits, they are also used to track the increased value of a dwelling for tax assessment purposes.

All of the insiders only MDGOP loyalists need not fear. Red Maryland is already complaining how it came to be that Ms. Neuman was selected and wants to change the process. Evidently ~ she wasn't subjected to the usual MDGOP party purity test to suit Red Maryland's Brian Griffiths.

Anyone interested can find his "Enough is Enough" whining and complaining on Red Maryland.

    Linky

And the attempted smearing has apparently already started based on the single comment posted there because an approved insider wasn't selected.

I suppose it's very easy to keep tripping and falling when one repeatedly looks backward to the failed past when trying to move forward. Looking forward would only result in see a bright spot ahead and having to complain about the glare rather than seeing it as a potential light showing a potential new direction on the pathway to success.

If it went through the courts, it should be public record...for those that are concerned.

Depends what the improvement/construction was? Increasing the sq footage, you are correct. Upgrading your bathroom, incorrect.

    As an aside -

Actually, there's a better way to track sq footage changes.

I recently did my roof, and the companies that came out to give me estimates never went on the roof, or took any measurements of how big my roof was. When I asked them why, they said they can get all that information from close up areal photographs of everyone's house/roof. He said they can accurately determine the sq footage from that.

So, the county tax assesors should be able to easily/quickly run visual comparisons (every few years) of property to see if the footprint on the property had increased. This could be easily automated by software.

No scandal search here, just due diligence.

Since I actually live in AACO/Annapolis, I want to know all I can about the person who will be sitting in the Executive Suite of the Arundel Center and making decisions that affect me.

By the way, Boink, I actually liked Leopold. Bit of a hound dog, to say the least. But the few times I met him, and had a chance to talk, I liked what he said. He may have taken advantage of his position, but I don't think he screwed over the voters. On whole, I think he was a decent County Exec.

Anyway, I certainly hope this new County Exec will do great things.

Agree 100%. Met him a few times too.
Steve Schuh may plan on running for CE but if Neuman does a good job he may not be able to beat her in a primary.

Default A.A. County Democrats - Beware of unintended consequences!

No doubt some of the republican insiders may be worried. But the democrats that only supported her to throw a monkey wrench in the republican primary may come to regret their decision.

Ms. Neuman seems remarkably competent and should do an excellent job. I predict the democrats on the A.A. County Council will rue the day they created a republican superstar!

I hope you are right. But let's give some time to get to work before we start running her for the next office.

She certainly seems to have the potential to be the kind of Republican candidate that might have mass appeal across the state. She worked very well with Ulman, a Democrat, and seems to be on the fiscally conservative side. Her private sector experience and success is something lacking in many careeer party hacks of both parties.

I just hope that the MDGOP insiders do not continue to insist on the party purity tests that fracture the GOP from the inside and limit its appeal and makes it the party of rallies, polls, and protests that makes noise but loses elections at the state level again and again.

If the MDGOP is smart, we will embrace her rather attack her right out of the gate for not being an insider and for her success in accomplishing what the insiders failed to do ~ get into office. This is a good beginning for the MDGOP to look to the future.

Schuh comes off as an a hole looking for the next job.
I am a democrat and live in the county. If she does a good job I'll vote for her. I voted for Leopold twice. In local politics it is more about doing a good job and managing budget and less about ideology. The Drunk Don Dwyers are few and far between.

The Murphy-Bongino extremists will attack her from all sides when she runs for election at any level. That Red State Md crew will not stand for an outsider getting attention in the MdGOP.

Blatant anti-male sexist comments on the new executive's actions:

    "
It's a good thing," said Benoit, a Democrat from Crownsville. "It's indicative of the changes that needed to take place in the county."

Of Neuman, Benoit added: "I think she's going to usher in a lot of changes that the county is really begging for. To the extent that she's a woman doing it, I think that's great."

Being female was the major point Kendel used to try and sell her candidacy.

“It really is something taylor made. It’s a unique circumstance for which I’m uniquely qualified. I think it’s significant that I’m a woman after all that we’ve heard,” Ehrlich said.

Mike Hellgren has Kendel Ehrlich one-on-one, talking about the job and her future.

She says she wants to restore integrity and confidence in Anne Arundel County.

Maryland’s former first lady Kendel Ehrlich tells WJZ she wants to be the next Anne Arundel County executive, replacing John Leopold, who resigned in disgrace after being convicted of misconduct for mistreating his employees.

“It really is something taylor made. It’s a unique circumstance for which I’m uniquely qualified. I think it’s significant that I’m a woman after all that we’ve heard,” Ehrlich said.

The only one who is already making rather stupid allegations about possible corruption ~ after Ms. Neuman has been in office ONE FULL WORK DAY ~ is a rather bitter comment poster on the Baltimore Sun articles posting as "lttruck29".

From the very same Baltimore Sun piece you linked ~

Let go or not. County residence will still pay for these part time people with their pensions and benefits. You want to do it right? Strip all that away. Other than that.....more of the same. She'll pull a Blake. Everyone she went to school with gets a county job. Next , new office furniture. She has a brother who owns a furniture store and here we go again

I may have missed it if the County Executive said anything similar. I was addressing Benoit's comments.

I was never a big KE backer. No matter how many times you linky or italicize it.

Are you trying to infer that I was this ladder truck guy? I thick your other poster is a fireman in company 29
