Default Baltimore County Councilman Todd Huff Charged With DUI

    http://owingsmills.patch.com/article...uspatc00000003

"Huff, a freshman Republican who represents the 3rd Council District, was arrested around 3 a.m. in Towson, according to police spokesman Shawn Vinson.

Huff was stopped by police after his silver Jeep Grand Cherokee was spotted traveling northbound on York Road near Washington Avenue. The vehicle's headlights were off. Huff pulled his county-owned vehicle into the Brooks Huff Tire Center, which is owned by his family, police said."

    Well this is unfortunate.
I supported Mr. Huff even with some questionable incidents in his past. I had hoped that this was all behind him. Drinking and driving is dangerous and reckless. Doing so in a county vehicle is just unforgivable. He needs to step down.

I am not sure why they need county owned vehicles in the first place.

I was going to say the same. Why ~ especially when looking for areas to cut spending ~ would they ever need a county car?

It's funny how the search for waste never seems to look right where they're sitting.

    He's not the first.

I noticed the Sun didn't mention Huff's party affiliation until the last paragraph.

Nope. And others did not step down.
But any and every company would fire an employee for driving a company vehicle drunk.

I expect better from all elected officials regardless of party or their politics. I despise all drunk drivers. I would love to see mandatory jail time with no exceptions if found guilty.

The voters can decide his fate. Drunk Don Dwyer almost KILLED people and he won't resign. My question was what was he doing out at 2AM. If he has a problem he needs help.

I am not as concerned about the hour except to question if he was using the county vehicle for personal use.
I see a lot of live music so I am coming home late. But I am sober.
The hour itself is not a crime.
I don't give a crap if he has a problem. That is his business. He ran for office to make the laws for the rest of us. He can't go around breaking them and putting lives at risk.

"Don't you know who I am"

Wow. The classic response. He needs to step down.

I did not say he should not be held responsible. But his drinking was a choice. Nothing more or less.

If he was a decent human being then he would resign. However, he’s a filthy whore bastard politician so he probably won’t.

Default Huff should be ina Huff

After reading the news article about Todd Huff’s arrogant behavior and attempt to bully the police in letting him go for driving drunk, I am not impressed with his question
to the arresting office “Don’t you know who I am?” I used to have parents of my students pull that one on me, and I always told them, “If you don’t know who you are, I sure as hell don’t.”
Having always voted for Republicans (which included Huff), I shall make sure to vote for any Democrat who opposes him in the next election.
We know who he is now don’t we?

He should have know that unless he was a fellow cop he was not going to get any special treatment.

From the linked story in the first post ~

Court records and documents of expunged court cases show that Huff, 44, had three cases against him, including one for leaving the scene of an accident in Anne Arundel County, one for having a gun in his car and a third for passing a $500 bad check, according to a story reported in October 2010 when Huff was seeking office.

He was sentenced to one year in jail in 1995 for leaving the scene of an accident—a misdemeanor—with all but four days suspended. It is unclear how much time Huff actually served in the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.

Also in 1995, Huff received probation before judgment after he was pulled over for speeding. Huff said he told the traffic officer "out of courtesy" that he had a loaded Sig Sauer .380 caliber handgun in his glove box.

In a 2010 interview, Huff said those charges were in the past and were not relevant to his campaign.

"These were 15 years ago and a lot of things have changed," Huff said. "I've grown from my past. I'd like to be judged for what I am now and what I've accomplished."
Not relevant? Grown from his past?

And the report says he tested for twice the legal alcohol limit!

Hopefully ~ Now he will be judged for what he accomplished and is.

“Don’t you know who I am?” Just as I thought. The guy is a drunk. He thinks he’s a privileged drunk because he’s a gutterball politician with connections. In reality, he’s the worst type of drunk. He’s a dirty drunk that operates a motor vehicle while plastered and endangers anyone who may be unfortunate enough to get in his way. He is a menace. I would have gladly looked the other way had the police officers decided to yank him through the window of the vehicle and beat him senseless right there in the parking lot. There is absolutely no excuse for this type of behavior. NO EXCUSE WHATSOEVER! Fortunately, he gave them all the evidence they needed to convict his worthless drunk butt. Give him his day in court and follow it up with some serious prison time. At the very least, he should lose his privilege to operate a motor vehicle indefinitely.

This guy sounds like a real gem. The voters in the 3rd District should be proud that they foisted this POS on the rest of the county.

It wasn't just the voters. He also had elected officials among his friends when he ran.

    Linky

Pat is always so outspoken on some issues involving bad behavior. Let's see if he has anything to say about it when it involves someone he supported.

Well, the voters had the final say in electing this piece of crap. If this is the best we can do for leaders then just let this whole thing collapse and start over.
