I think it must depend on where your seats are located. In section 34 where I often sit, everyone stands on third down and against the Steelers, essentially the entire game.
However, I have sit in the upper deck and due to the high angle and distance being so far away it really isn't necessary to stand to have an impact, but I still do it out of habit on big third downs anyway!![]()
a. NFL owners have far more invested in the outcome of an NFL game, than an NFL fan.
b. It was not an Alan Ameche running play where my view was blocked, it was a Joe Namath sack.
c. My thought is that people pay big money for NFL tickets and I don't think it is an unreasonable expectation to be able to see the game while seated.
After hearing to the contrary, I will now assume that going to an NFL, playing $100 plus dollars for tickets, should be done with the expectations that you may be required to stand up early and often, in order to see the game.
And they stand and cheer when they feel like it. They also don't have to worry about the people in front of them standing, and then needing to stand to see. Also, the TV cameras don't follow owners the entire game, so who knows what they do when they aren't on camera???
I knew it had to be something traumatic.
Reasonable expectations go out the window when you're with 70,000 others who are a) excited, b) drinking and c) they spent the same money as you and if they feel the need to stand, will. I don't think it's unreasonable to go to the movies and refrain from talking, using the phone, bringing a crying baby, etc...but it happens.
You keep taking this to the extreme. I guess it depends on where you sit but up in the poor people seats we stand on 3rd down and during close and late plays, drives, etc. It's hardly early and often.
Even people at home stand up during crucial times. WTH can watch a game you're totally engrossed in while sitting down the entire time unless you have to?![]()
Enough with all the sitting and standing issues at M & T, onto newly issued policy:
NO SMOKING at M & T and Camden Yards, must actually leave the stadium.

On 33rd street during night games, you could actually see smoke flumes rising from the seating areas of the upper deck into the lights.
Ouch, that sucks for smokers.
my seats are in the corner of the lower level... last row of the lower level so we all stand or sit on the backs of our seats. You can sit high or stand the entire game without disrupting another persons view and can see everyone below...
Im amazed at the number of people who try to stand the entire game... which forces everyone in back of them to stand or sit without seeing (after paying a lot of money for lower level seats).
They often stand when there is no reason to stand.
There is also aways some drunk girl... who stands and shouts just to get attention...
Are you serious. The only time my section sits is if the ball is in the other half of the field or a T.O. If the ball crosses the 50 than the 40 etc. You will not see anyone sitting in the west endzone. I would bet during the Steeler game no one in the entire endzone sat during the whole game.
