I can grasp it. This was one case. My point is the lopsided way in which these things are handled. As I said, some groups get more protection from offense than others. If we now have a society where people have a right against being offended, then let's apply it across the board in all cases. Impossible you say? Of course, which is why the whole idea is bankrupt.
Just because Bmore and I want to discuss the topic does not mean you can insert your drivel in here.Originally Posted by SoSad

First post in the thread from you. You're wondering what rules the kids broke. Probably a dress code or an inappropriate attire rule, would you say? Or do you think differently?

Another blatant lie and deflection.
The question is not what should have been done but whether similar actions are taken when others are offended. We know minorities and women get quick action. How about conservatives, Christians and white males? Why can they be offended with impunity? That's the point. We either treat everyone's perceived offense equally or we scrap the whole thing. I prefer the latter.
The clear implication made by teacher is that someone would be terrifed of these kids because of their garb. That they would be equated with the KKK, a terrorist organization. He said it and I merely pointed it out. How the hell is that a lie? Please, your head is barely above water now, stop the flailing.![]()
This is exactly what you said:
which was not at all what I had said. You clearly had twisted my point to try and make me look absurd. The fact of the matter is that yes, people could feel terror upon seeing someone dressed in the KKK. No need to try and blow that up into "So now they think there is going to be a KKK rally."So you think people at the hockey game were fearful that a KKK rally was going to break out? Please, this is too absurd.
How about responding to a post without nonsense such as this:Please, your head is barely above water now, stop the flailing.![]()
Keep deflecting. This thread is about, and has always been about, three kids dressed up as KKKers at a high school hockey game and their punishment by the school administration. Yet for some reason, you want to talk about Stalin, Hitler, Mother Teresa, and everything else under the sun that may be considered what you think is "offensive." Give me a flippin' break.Originally Posted by veritas
For the umpteenth time, who was terrified? Please name one person at this game terrified by these kids. Or is simply the remote possibility that someone could be terrified enough to discipline them? Is that what we've come to? Discipline based on maybes and could haves?
Here is the post:
Making the statement "Liberals who suffer epileptics seizures whenever..." is what I found to be in poor taste. The part I have specifically quoted is what I am taking issue with. What's wrong with a liberal just being a liberal and why compare them with a disorder?Originally Posted by The Shadow
You've already drowned. The KKK is absolutely a terrorist org. Do you have inside info that nobody was scared of this? Didn't think so. Moving on.Originally Posted by veritas
What part of "people COULD have been terrified" do you not grasp? I didn't say people were, yet you've asked me multiple times who was. COULD does not mean that they WERE.
You're also continuing to ignore that these students may have violated the school's policy, and therefore the school had every reason to discipline them. Dressing up in racist, terroristic costumes isn't exactly freedom of expression. Even if we took our the KKK and a student wore a shirt that said ni99er, the school would have had the right to discipline the students.
