Baltimore Police are investigating a double homicide late Sunday and two other shootings that occurred in the predawn hours.

Responding to calls of gunfire at about 10:50 p.m., Northeast District officers found an unresponsive man lying in the street in the 1700 block of Montpelier St. suffering from gunshot wounds. Up the block, police found a car with the front passenger door open and a woman inside, who had also been shot and was unresponsive.

Both victims were transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital. The man, who police said had "numerous" gunshot wounds to his torso and head, was pronounced dead at 11:21 p.m. The woman, shot in her torso and a limb, was pronounced dead six minutes later.

This one was on Friday.

City confirmed Saturday that a man and a woman whose bodies were found in a burning car in West Baltimore early Friday morning had been shot.

Police said it was still not clear whether they were killed by bullets or the fire and had no more information on the cause of the blaze. The fire was discovered at about 5 a.m. in the 2000 block of N. Monroe St. in the Mondawmin neighborhood, fire officials said.

If only cars were illegal, this could have been prevented.

Up to interpretation. I read it as two separate incidents. Not to deflect from the actual violent brutality as commented above mind you.

New details are emerging in the murder of two people found in a burning car.

According to the link, one of the victims is the daughter of a well-respected retired judge. Wow, what a tragic story. It's hard to believe that such heinous crimes like this are happening in the middle-class Mondawmin neighborhood.

One has to wonder what the motive for killing them was.
