Default Donations Pour in For Homeless Man Who Returned Ring

CNN affiliate KCTV caught up with Harris and asked him how he felt about all the attention he’s attracted since returning the ring.

“I like it, but I don’t think I deserve it,” he said.

“What I actually feel like is, ‘what has the world come to when a person who returns something that doesn’t belong to him and all this happens?’” Harris said.

Decency is sometimes in short supply these days.

Such decency could easily be why he is homeless.

sigmalady, I shed some tears reading this story. He saved the ring for her - awesome.

His name was Ted Williams, the "the homeless man with the golden voice."

He got hooked again on drugs, lost his voice-over spots, a reality-TV deal was pulled, and the Cleveland Cavs withdrew their job offer. Then he went into rehab.

Supposedly clean now. he wrote a book about his story. Not sure if any of his nine kids speaks to him at all anymore.

It's great all around. The woman who looked past stereotypes to give him some change. Him being the decent man that he is and saving it for her. Then not expecting anything for his honesty.

Yup, let's talk about him instead of the person that is the topic of THIS thread.

Has any story revealed why this honest man is homeless?

    Is he still homeless today?

Why are they waiting 90 days to give him the cash (last count over $150,000)?

Seems like they could slide him a few thousand for a hotel room & food until they give him the big bucks.

Default Homeless man who returned ring gets over $175K in donations

175k not bad...................I once found a credit card and returned it, the guy offered to buy me a 6pk of bud.

When Kansas City homeless man Billy Ray Harris returned Sarah Darling’s engagement ring last month after she accidentally dropped it in his cup, it could have been the end of the story. Instead, the experience has changed his life. In the weeks since his good deed went viral, Harris has gained national attention, and supporters have raised over $175,000 for him to find a new home. Something even more valuable happened: Harris is back in touch with his family, from whom he was estranged for the last 16 years.
