Learn what? extend your contract and have the whole thign guaranteed?
The Patriots can do this by guaranteeing his salaries for the next three and giving him much of the money in a chunk of a bonus right now. That, the source with knowledge of the contract said, is what the Patriots intend to do. And history points to Brady doing the same thing eight offseasons ago.

discusses how brady deal directly affects the flacco's contract
Flacco agent will destroy what the ravens have build in the last twenty years.tom Brady is a team player is Joe flacco we will see,I am far from a Brady fan but in this day and age you have tip your hat.Players agents are looking at what they are getting big pay check on 100 million and Joe agent wants to get paid.if Joe is a team player then what will he do to keep his team together
The future of the ravens in a agent that will put the screws to the ravens,so his pockets get filled .Brady's move should help Flacco's deal. if Joe is a Baltimore raven or maybe a Cleveland Brown .Well at least he won't be a New England patriot
I don't buy that Brady is that much of a team player on this, other than on paper. I suspect there is something underhanded here, like maybe an under-the-table agreement. It wouldn't be the first time it happened. I think Denver lost draft picks years ago for doing something similar - but they were the ones that got caught. Some teams constantly find ways to cheat.
In listening to Eric Davis on NFL AM this morning he must have repeated himself 10x
$40 million guaranteed......over and over. Then he changed it to $50 million guaranteed.
He said Tom Brady is the only NFL player to have a "GUARANTEED" contract. No matter what he gets paid....and all the way up to the age of 40.
This wasn't all about about saving cap space for the sake of the team. He's getting a guaranteed paycheck.
So lets not act like Tom Brady isn't getting his.
For all those talking about the team player stuff, does anyone know if Team Player Brady took the team into consideration when he signed his first big contract? Because Brady and Flacco are in completely different situations contract wise
Maybe Suggs, Ngata and Rice should give back some of their money to the team in order to help them stay competitive.
Brady is at the end of his career - not at the beginning as is Flacco. Joe (just like Brees and Manning) deserves his money - and he will get it. If you don't believe that see how fast Cleveland would jump on Flacco to make him their starting quarterback if they had the chance.
The amount of Joe's contract is not the issue - its the cap space in 13 and 14. The Ravens can structure a deal with Joe that will make the cap work in 13 and 14 so that the team can stay competitive and win.
I agree that the situations with Brady and Joe Flacco are completely different. This is Joe's time to make the most he possibly can. No one would argue his motives. The question of whether the Ravens should accomodate the question of making him the highest paid QB in the league is something else altogether.
As far as the comments about Cleveland jumping all over the opportunity - we'll likely have an opportunity to see the number of teams and how high they are willing to jump starting next week. If the exclusive franchise tag is used, Cleveland will have the opportunity to make Joe the highest piad QB in the league and hand over to us their #1 pick this year AND next year.
It will certainly be interesting to watch what happens if that were to play out with Cleveland or Jax, or whoever. But really - I wouldn't be so confident that is going to happen. We'll find out soon.
Isn't Brady already making $18 mil a year, and has been for some time? His situation and circumstances are entirely different. Flacco has been underpaid, and he deserves a big adjustment in salary, akin to what Brady is making. Perhaps after he starts making Brady-like salary, he can consider some deferred compensation.
i think it would be interesting to see flacco as a brown or a jag. maybe even with the jets. ravens would get tremendously compensated for it so its worth looking at. and it would help their cap situation
rharris1986!!!! Where have you been? (From what I read you got the ax at 24x7. What a crock, man. What a total crock. All you did was tell the truth about Cameron. And your Broncos regular season game prediction post is legendary. They like to pat themselves on the back over there about what great fans they are, and how much "inside" info they have, when the sad truth is they are about as big a bunch of losers as one could possibly assemble in one place (especially some of those wind bag mods), with a few notable exceptions.)
ANYway...
once again...you hit the nail on the head.
Great to see ya, man.
+1
