Just make students in all public schools wear uniforms. Problem solved and everyone will be the same.

I agree. Since it seems every week some other school administrator gets their panties in a wad over some t-shirt, they should all just wear uniforms. Problem solved.

The teachers and administrators should have to wear uniforms as well. Khakis and Polo shirt. Problem solved. Maybe the adults should wear a different color though.

No issues there either. I wish my employer would implement uniforms. Makes getting ready in the morning much easier. I miss putting on my tree suit everyday.

Calling it "anti-gun hysteria"? Yeah I'd say that is misplaced outrage. My grandmother had a great term for this: "injustice collectors".
I say that pretty much sums it up. I bet that if the T-Shirt didn't have the guns on it and said just "MARINES" there wouldn't have beeen one word said.

If you click on the link, this was on the National Fox News site, not a local affiliate. National news?

Sounds like NRA-esque hysteria to me. Injustice collection yet again, oy.

Actually if you read the article.......the school says it isn't innappropriate the teacher over-reached. Unfortunately the parents never even talked to the principal!

The school superintendent said the shirt did not violate the dress code.

    The code clearly states:

Students who are wearing inappropriate items will be asked to change or wear their PE uniform. Multiple infractions may result in discipline action

Unless the student has done this before, he should have simply been asked to go put on his gym shirt. By the way, nothing about guns in the dress code. Teacher is a wack!

Yes, I was simply trying to provide my OWN research. More folks around here should try it.

Isn't that what I was saying? I'm saying the teacher made the student turn the shirt inside out because of the guns on the shirt.

Yes, they should but little research was required to realize this was the action of one teacher and not a whole school as the OP seemed to want to imply. The parents also should have called the school before calling the news.

Not exactly the point is after reading the misleading OP you all jumped to the conclusion the school was telling this kid he could not wear it. The reality is they didn't ONE misguided teacher did. The BOE called her on the carpet. The sad thing is the parents did not go to the school administration they ran straight to the news to be a victim.

Yes exactly. I didn't jump to any conclusion. I made a general statement and did not point the finger directly at anybody or the administration. It was a general statement not blaming anybody. Read the black only and don't read between the lines. Didn't the teacher tell him to turn the shirt inside out or remove it? It doesn't matter if it was the teacher or the principal at the time of the command. He was ordered to do it and I'm sticking to my guns that the only reason he was ordered to switch or remove the shirt was because it had guns on it.

That I agree with. But as I point out the school indicated the teacher was wrong and the school only became aware of this because the news called them. I can't help to think this would not have been an issue if the parents called the school!

Well, the article made it somewhat easier for those wishing to register a complaint by identifying the teacher by name and her place of employment.
