Default Iran Hails Turning Point In Nuclear Talks

Iran hails turning point in nuclear talks

Iran has declared that negotiations with a group of world powers have reached a "turning point" after it was offered a series of concessions, including sanctions relief on gold and petrochemical exports, in return for acceptance of limits on uranium enrichment.

Two days of talks in the Kazakh city of Almaty between Iran and a six-nation negotiating group ended on Wednesday with an agreement to hold further meetings aimed at finalising a deal.

In return for a limited relaxation of sanctions, the six-nation group – the US, UK, France, Germany, Russia and China – maintained its insistence that Iran stop making 20%-enriched uranium, which is relatively easy to turn into weapons-grade material

In Almaty the Iranians were asked only to "reduce the readiness" of Fordow while accepting more intrusive monitoring of the facility by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a western diplomat said.
As long as Iran is willing to accept international monitoring to confirm it is not building a nuclear weapon, more power to the solution. The goal is Iran with no nuclear weapon. If it is achieved through diplomacy, everyone wins.

True, but my sense is that Iran is just trying to buy time with the promise of further negotiations.

Probably true. We should set a very quick date in stone for total, unrestricted access to all of their sites by the IEAA and state that if for any reason any access is denied, all sanctions and more will go back into effect, and all options are on the table.

The United States does not allow access to ALL of its sites and Israel does not allow access to any of its sites.

    That's fair.

Israel has also used their nuclear weapons to engage US in nuclear extortion. Golda Meir did it to Nixon and there no reason to believe that has not continued to this very day. That would explain why Congress and the White House rubber stamps Israels every request. If they don't Israel will exercize the Sampson Option and nuke every country in the Middle East.

Naivety is not your friend. They are far more reasons to be concerned about Israels nukes than Irans.

Why is that? Israel has had them for over 4 decades and never used them. They won't unless attacked first. Israel never took 50+ Americans hostage and held them for over a year. Israel never called for the destruction of another country the way Iran has. We still owe Iran some payback from the hostage crisis. The president has committed to the prinicple that he will not allow Iran to become a nuclear power, John Kerry has signed onto it, and I expect they will keep their promise. Iran is not our friend, not our ally, and never should be as long as they continue to denigrate our culture and civilization. It's a travesty that we allow their clown of a president on our soil to address the UN. We should tell him if he lands here, he takes his life in his hands, so please stay away.

We don't owe Iran any payback considering our role in overthrowing their elected government.

Seriously? You don't even want to go there. You are right Israel has not used them. but they do not have the self restraint that we and other nations have. In the 1973 Yom Kippur War PM Golda Meir ordered 13 nuclear bombs and missiles to be armed and readied for use. She then used the threat of using the nukes to extort military supplies from President Nixon. The full Samson Option not only includes nuking the Middle East. It also includes Israel using their nuclear armed subs to "bring down the pillars of the world" by nuking Moscow, Europe and US. With friends like Israel who needs enemies. So now we can only wonder if Congress rubber stamps Israels every request just to avoid all the Nuclear Drama.

In the Iran Hostage Crisis out of the 66 hostages taken. There were 13 Women and African Americans released because they were sympathetic to oppressed minorities. They also released one man because he became seriously ill. He was later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Out of the 52 remaining hostages all surived to be released. We don't need to pay them back for that. That was a payback to US that we earned fair and square. Israels attack upon the USS Liberty killed 34 Americans and wounded 171. With friends like Israel who needs enemies.

Israel has not verbally threatened to wipe another country off the map. They're just doing it. Over the past 60 years Israel has been slowly but surely has been wiping Palestined off the map with illegal settlements.

The with military action against Iran is two fold. We have no real evidence that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons. We have nothing more than supposition. We had far more evidence of Iraq's nuclear weapons program and we all know how that turned out. This will not be a scenario in which wed drop a few bombs on Iran and it's over. The scenario is one in which we bomb Iran, all hell breaks loose and Iraq FINALLY looks like a cakewalk. Are you ready to add another 2 to 4 Trillion to our national debt? Btw, China will not be lending us the money for that war. Kiss any and all idea's of retiring good bye. It'll all come from the Social Security trust fund. So you will work everyday until you drop dead. One thing you can be absolutely sure of is that Israel will not spend a single penny on the war they worked so hard to start. So they will continue to enjoy their retirements as they laugh at us Americans working ourselves to death serving them. Just as it says it should be in the Sanhedrin.
