Lol Florida LB Brandon Spikes suspended for....
One half.
A 30 minute suspension for reaching into another players helmet and trying to scratch his eyes.
What a joke the NCAA is.

I think the conference is reviewing this. Meyer was the one who gave him the suspension. He has no class

I had heard that the SEC approved of the suspension.
It's all about money.

The best part about this was I was watching the game live, they showed a replay of the play 2-3 times, and the announcers NOT ONCE ever said anything about the eye gauging, even though it was BLATANT. They were so busy sucking Tebow off that they must have missed it.

I have been out of the country on vacation and missed this story. Dez Bryant got suspended for the rest of the season for meeting with Deion Sanders? Is Deion trying to become an agent? First Crabtree and now Bryant. Deion is a fool who is endangering the careers of promising players. Bryant will fall in the draft because of this, which will cost him a lot of money.

no it's because he lied to the NCAA and they say they have a zero tolerance when doing an investigation. If they're lied to, they suspend. It's really a shame in this situation but if he had told the truth he'd probably be OK.
and yes, suspending him 1/2 against a creampuff team for that eyegouging is pretty ridiculous.

All you Ravens fans calling "foul" about the Spikes play sure don't seem to have any problems with Ray Lewis roaming your field. Cheer a murderer each Sunday and scream for the head of Brandon Spikes because of that play? Sure, that makes sense...

Wow...way to take it to a different level. You're the reason why people don't like Florida fans it seems. The guy did something wrong, regardless of the suspension it was a dirty play. To bring in an NFL future hall of famer for a crime he wasn't found guilty for is a little absurd to me. Way to try to deflect...classless.

Don't you know...it's Florida and they are the darlings of NCAA Football.
If it were BYU or anyone else, the player would be suspended from the team permanantly.

Let's compare notes here.
A dirty play, which no flag was thrown on, but was still considered a dirty play by Meyer and thus he suspended the player vs. a "future Hall of Famer" who was originally indicted for murder until he ratted out two friends, payed off the families of the two murder victims in civil court, and was fined $250-thousand by the NFL for his actions.
Yeah, I can sure see why you're disturbed at Spike's wrist slap suspension vs. Ray Lewis'. Your sense of moral outrage seems a tad misguided to me there, D Block (which by the way is where your "future Hall of Famer" should still be residing)..

Again, you're deflecting...this isn't about Ray Lewis. This isn't about the NFL. This is about a kid who made a dirty play, regardless of a flag thrown or not...way to bring up things that have no bearing on the task at hand...thanks in advance for letting me see to ignore your posts in the future.

And it's about your outrage at the way the transgression at Florida was handled. Guess who else is outraged at another transgression...a more tragic one...and the way it was handled?
Fair enough on the other comments. You think Spikes should be suspended for a longer period of time. I think Ray Lewis should be in jail for life. I'd darn sure trade the former for the latter...

Alot of us are tired of the over-exposure that Tebow's been receiving. His picture's on everything but a Tampon box down here. And his mother's on that one. Tebow's a good kid, and you'll never have to pick his face out of a police line-up. Regardless, I'll be glad when John Brantley takes over at QB down here next year...

I have no 'outrage' at what the player did, I'm not calling for his head...I've been in a pile before I know what happens. You bringing an outside reference that has no bearing in the conversation is what is ludicrous to me. You compare apples and oranges and think that the fruit salad adds up. Pathetic.

It's the beauty of a message board, D Block. You can say what you feel, and I can say what I feel. Now when exactly are you going to start ignoring my posts?. Or are you one of those "got to get the last word in" sort of posters?...

Okay, let's . . . since you went there. A more fair comparison would be two NCAA players, not an NCAA player and an NFL player.
NCAA Player #1: Lies to NCAA about visiting an ex-NFL superstar. Suspended for the year.
NCAA Player #2: Tries to gouge out the eyes of an opposing player. Suspended for 30 minutes of game time.
Yeah, that seems about right.

NCAA Player #1: Had incident reported to NCAA. Lied about it.
NCAA Player #2: Had incident reported to NCAA. Didn't lie about it.
See a basic difference here?
