Just saw Couples Retreat and it was really good with some funny lines.

Vince Vaughn wrote it after coming up with the idea.

He should do more stuff like this.

The photography of the islands alone is worth the price.

Great date movie.

There were all couples in my theater on a Tues night.

Red Cliff - a Chinese epic film based on the Battle of Red Cliffs and events during the end of the Han Dynasty and immediately prior to the period of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China. The film was directed by John Woo, and stars Tony Leung, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Zhang Fengyi, Chang Chen, Hu Jun, Lin Chi-ling and Zhao Wei. Excellent movie if you don't mind subtitles.

I just saw The Taking of Pelham 123 with John Travolta. It was quite graphic and they used the F word a lot. It was a different take from the other two Pelham movies.

Where the wild things are...very boring. I mean snooze fest boring. Giant muppets were dumb looking and the story was just plain silly. No humor, no suspense, its got nothing. I smiled at one scene, where the muppet that lost his arm had a little stick poking out for a fake one. Thats it, the best joke of the film was a static scene of a muppet with a stick for an arm.

"Ghajini" on IFC last Sunday morning. It's a movie shot in India, and the editing was great. I could have done without the lead characters breaking out into dances and songs periodically, but the way the movie carried romance, comedy and action was really something to see. And the transformation of the male lead from comedy to cold-blooded killer during the movie was pretty amazing. I ordered myself a copy of it off Amazon as soon as I finished watching it....

The Men Who Stare At Goats

I don't know what to make of that movie. Funny in places, quirky throughout. It had a decent start and looked like it was going somewhere. Then it lost it's way somewhere in the middle and ended. That's it. Worth watching, but it could have been so much more.

I thought the movie was an interesting take on childhood. It was pretty boring but I think the director was trying to make the audience think without having to follow an unnecessarily complicated plot. The voices were very well done the ending is pretty effing sad.

This morning, we saw Precious at Magic Johnson's movie theater in Largo. It was a very serious movie.

I remember the report of the 'Frisco mayor & some other guy (Milk) getting shot in the city hall; later, press gave lotsa mileage to Dan White's "Twinkie defense": too much junk food rattled his upper story.

There's also a documentary from many years ago, The Times of Harvey Milk, with a great soundtrack score by Mark Isham.

Plus ninjas and chicks with lots of cleavage. Its a 15 year old's ultimate movie.

Avatar, eh we'll see. It could be great like Aliens, or it could be a sappy turd like Titanic.

I watched the Swedish vampire movie "LET THE RIGHT ONE IN" - it's subtitled and weird but kinda interesting and odd. I wouldn't buy the DVD.
