the comments from kids are EPIC! Keyloggers, reconfiguring the maginfy.exe as a boot, proxy sites... man, i love todays kids! if they put even half as much energy into R&D and Schoolwork that they did into World of Warcraft and breaking through parental controls to look at porn, this country would be much better off!
Most parents should just not give their kids computers if they don't want them to see anything. I could probably keep a kid from spoofing me, but I develop software for a living and know a lot of the tricks. And even then, I'd assume he'd eventually beat my locks.
Yeah, the best way to restrict internet use is on the router, but they will always find a way around filters. My stepson easily found porn sites not in the Net Nanny database.
"The computer kid" has a good point. Parental controls ARE pointless. Even computer saavy gen-x parents aren't going to have the time and energy to administer any kind of censor-like control on their networks. Hell, even most corporate IT departments can't pull that off.
Most kids are on laptops these days anyway. All they have to do is to connect to another access point.
However the article mentioned that there were a lot of proxy sites out there. I'm wondering if you might have a part-time job on your hands blocking proxy sites one at a time...
