Default Any alternatives to fios triple play?

I'm now paying $175 per month for the triple play, with no premium stations. Of course $23 of it represents taxes/fees. I have a dvr and 2 sd receivers. Since I'm no longer under contract, I can look for a better deal.

Would it be better if I de-bundle?

Kind of wish analog tv was still around.

I am pretty sure that I pay 175 and I get pretty much every premium channel (all the movies, sports & HD channels. No Playboy). I was paying over $200, but I gave them a call and they lowered my price.

I'm looking to move to a FIOS lit area. If I did move, I was thinking of getting the triple play, even though all I want is Internet. The triple play "says" $99 on the site. Your post obviously is the real world scenario. If true, damn. You may want to call Verizon to see if you can get a better deal.

Verizon is stealing customers from Comcast, DirectTV and the Dish Network, because it has the better product (IMO). On my street alone, they stole 6 of 8 homes the first week fios became available. So they are negotiating from a position of strength. Consequently, the current offers ($99) are directed at potential customers only.

I know several people who called Verizon to demand a better deal only to accept a price increase from $104.99 to $109.99 (That also was their offer when I called). Since I pay month-to-month, my price is $114.99. That's just the base price for the triple play. Verizon also began charging me a rental fee on both the DVR and the 2 SD receivers. They also tacked back on the telephone service fees I paid for my landline service prior to getting fios, such as inside wire maintenance fee and non-published service fee.

It still sounds a bit odd that your price is so high. I have 1 HD DVR reciever, one HD receiver, and 2 SD receivers. I am charged rental fees for all of them. When I called they informed me that I had "fallen out of a package" meaning I wasn't getting any discounts for bundling services. They then moved me over to Triple Play and now I pay considerably less.

Here's a breakdown of my Nov Verizon bill:

Triple Play -----$114.99

Rental fees
1 DVR ----------$15.99
2 SD Rec--------$11.98

Other Services
Inside wire -------$5.99
Non-pub ---------$1.89

Taxes/fees-------$23.82

That's approx. $175 with no premium channels.

You can probably get by without the inside wiring service. See if going with VoIP or other phone service would be worth it for you. The taxes we pay on this stuff is ridiculous these days. It wasn't that long ago that my long distance bill was around $6/mo. After a couple years the taxes alone were higher than that.

you may want to contact Comcast and see what they will offer.

I have Comcast triple play, with 4 movie channels and two HD-DVRs, The rate I have is much better than what you listed.

I have Direct TV & I have had Comcast before and that sounds about right. With Comcast, I know their protection plan that covers inside wiring is $3.95 and that non published rate is basically the same with them. Comcast may have 1 over them because their first cable box(Regular/DVR/HD) is free and any additional box(8.99) Regular (DVR/HD is 15.99) per month last time I checked. Comcast has it's benefits like "on demand" but it's the Quality of the product that made me go to DirectTv.

I was interested in the FIOS Triple Play but it's not in my area yet. Direct TV has delivered superior service for me in the home as far as the last 5 years goes. The NFL package they offer is matched by none. No broken picture frames, not 1 technician visit since having the service.

We were just contcted by a fios guy...signed up for the servide and told it would be considerably cheaper than what we currently pay for triple service through Verizon and Directv...

Basic service, and One DVR and two 2 standard boxes came to $140 mosnth..BEFORE taxes and fees...

Needless to say we called Dtv and they sweetend the pot fpor us...We won't be going with fios anytime soon...
