There's an Akbar Palace on Brenbrook (off of Liberty Rd) which I hear is excellent. Lots of folk of India heritage eat there. I don't think they would eat there themselves if the food was not good.

The Ambassador has become exceedingly overpriced and if you are going for Indian food to share, their presentation is one meal per person instead of placing entrees on the table for everyone to share. The sharing in my opinion is the best part of eating Indian food and it is discouraged in the Ambassador. Years ago they changed to this format and I have stopped going there due to it.

I really like the Ambassador.

Mughal Garden has the best Indian lunch buffet, by far, I have ever seen.

No local experience quite like the Ambassador. You would almost have to go to India to duplicate it. Special occasion quality experience. Probably the best retort to Baltimore being just a beer and crabs town.

I used to eat at the Akbar in Columbia, but I feel like it has really gone down hill. I don't know where you are located, but in Columbia my favorite is Mirchi Wok (actually my favorite one in the area). There is also a vegetarian Indian place next door (same owners) called Mango Grove that is supposedly pretty good too. I used to go to Bombay Peacock, but their horrible service drove me away (good food though).

I used to like Akbar in Columbia, but the wait staff started getting snotty, so we started to go to House of India which was a block away. The food is as good or better than Akbar and the staff is always courteous. The first time we went, the

I like Mango Grove, but it's a little spicier than I would like. But it gets bonus points from me because it's all vegetarian.

I second Mughal Gardens on Charles St. as having a great buffet, and their food is always delicious. There's a place right across the street from Mughal Gardens (can't remember the name) that I just tried, and it was very good too.

Ambassador has a lovely atmosphere, but I agree that the prices have surpassed the quality in recent years.

I didn't know that Mango Grove in Columbia was vegetarian. I'll definitely have to try that out ASAP.
