The Phillies should send Hamels home along with Lidge.

+1!
Used to be a fan of Myers's until that little incident occurred. He really hasn't been the same on the mound since, for that matter. Karma...

Maybe it will light a fire under Hamels ass.
Still, I don't think Myers is the player who needs to be delivering these messages. Not like he did anything extraordinary this year. He wasn't even active for the NLCS.

You're right should have been Howard.

No. Howard has worse plate vision than Ray Charles at the moment. It should have been an Utley or the manager.
Its not the job of soon to be FAs who have been hurt or ineffective all year to give messages to a former NLCS and WS MVP.

Well said. Frankly, I think that it is over blown. Did Hamels say it out of real desire or disappointment? I would think disappointment.

I've only read Hamels comments, without audio / video, but my assumption would be that he was just venting out of frustration and disappointment with his own performance. In the light of, "Wow, I'm not pitching as well as I could be, can't wait 'til this is all over". At the same time, if he gets a chance to go in game seven, it means they're still alive and he'll give it his best. I seriously doubt the guy really wants to just go home and call it a year. But who knows...

Brett Myers is a wife-battering jerk. Maybe he is trying to light a fire under Hamels' bottom, but nonetheless, Myers is a tool.

I think the press should leave players alone atleast 24hrs after they a bad game, when one is pissed they might say anything. I know it's happened to me.

I think whether or not Brett is a jerk is kind of irrelevant to this point. He is a veteran, one who has had success in the past, and for all we know is a guy that is respected in the clubhouse. I dont care who calls who out, Hamels shouldnt have said those things...apparently there were a few Phillies who were bothered by the comment.
And I agree with Brian, maybe Hamels didnt mean what he said and was probably just mad at that point, maybe the reporters just need to back off a bit and give the players some space after the games...

Heard Bobby Valentine say that if he was running across home plate, Ryan Howard couldn't hit him.

Interesting stat last night on Fox...Utley and Howard have tied/broken the record for homeruns/strikeouts in a World Series.

John Kruk reporting these guys are "best friends". Just a joke that got carried away. Gammons said this is more of a media thing. He also added that the Phillies dugout is one of the best in baseball.
