I think we learned once again this week that there isn't any real defense against the lone gunman intent in doing harm so unless Sheila is getting Secret Service style protection this is once again about her ego and having a chauffeur/concierge at her fingertips.

this really is a joke …….

it’s emblematic of the sense of entitlement that the political whores feel (and the contempt that they have for us commoners) ………

it just gets worse as they rise up the political food chain ………

What good is a MD carry lisc in FL? FL does not accept a MD lisc through reciprocity. Now if the Shoe had a MD lisc and went to Nashville TN for instance, she would be covered, since TN accepts ANY carry lisc from any state.

It is certainly legal for a MD resident to carry in FL if they have a FL carry lisc. They do allow nonresidents to get and use these lisc's LOL.

Since you think FL lisc's are fake-o, why don't you apply for one to test it? You will see that they will turn you down when they run the background check and find out about your mental adjudications LOL. Or they will run the fingerprint card through APHIS and yours will match those mystery prints found at 27 serial killer style murder scenes. LOL x 2

Now shut yo trap!

You guys/gals are a bunch of no-nothing blowhards.
Holy Smokes Jimjim5,

Were you in Detroit's ex- mayor Kwame Kilpatrick corner also?

"Transportation/infrastructure initiatives to make the city more responsive, honest and useful to its citizens..."

You take a look at any construction site in Baltimore city and you'll find the crew 90-100% latino. Jobs for Baltimore citizens? Hmmm, well, Okay, maybe the latino workers I see are citizens - no english speaking and no papers but huh technicalities.

"...Department of Planning..."

The same old same old. Take an impoverished community with run down housing. move the citizens out, tear down the run down housing and replace with $150,000 to $200,000 new housing and invite the impoverished back in to buy them. How stupid. The key word being "IMPOVERISHED"???

"Tough budget decisions/streamlining/cost savings..."
Ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha , ha ha ha and on and on

"This is how pretty much ALL Americans vote..."

Well, I gotta give it to you for admitting you have a profound stupidity when it comes to voting for your well being. I just hope repeated exposure to better methods of deciding who you want to represent you will rub off and make you a better, responsible and mature voter.

I keep seeing posters inferring that the $4500 was to pay for her vacation, but according to the article, it was only used to pay the expenses related to sending the security protection for her. Nowhere does it say that part of the $4500 was the cost of the vacation. As far as the question of whether it was 1 rental car or 2, it would make sense that it was one, for the officers, and her rental was paid for by herself as that is part of her vacation... although $1900 for one car sounds quite high to me.

Board of estimates meetings produce a transcript, so how hard could it be to verify what previous mayors spent. The truth of the matter is that the paper has its own agenda and publishing stories like this about the present mayor a week before her trial clearly gives someone their jollies on the editorial board. Perhaps the hope is to taint the potential jury pool with anti-Dixon fevor. I'm not excusing the mayor's vacation spending. I'm just saying that folks need to look beyond the story and consider the motivation...
Any answer, Sunpapers' staff?...anyone...??

Be careful about what you crybabies wish for. She HAS been the best mayor this town has seen for quite sometime. Do you really want Stephanie R-Blake to run the show, or some panderer or no nothing?

If she gets booted out of office, wait till you see the gene pool lining up to win her job. She has been doing a good job. Let's just keep her away from gift cards.

You people bit-chin' don't live in the city......if you do, I see you like to shoot your nose to spite you face. Morans.
I was "bit-chin" when I was a City resident...and STILL "BIT-CHIN"! What does living in the city have to do with any type of political analysis? You're telling me that all you watch and discuss is local news on tv because "outside" news doesn't concern you??

Your arguement is WEAK!!!!!!! - and so is the name-calling, Sheila...

all dissenters: I backed up my defense of Mayor Dixon and your mugslinging with FACTS and link to back up all my rebuttals. All you have done AGAIN is provide conjecture.

This is fun. It's like being 6'2", 220 and playing football against a bunch of Pee-Wee league players.

Jim, I will not tolerate crooks and criminals at all. Not at any level or for any reason. Sorry. Nope, no, never. Not even if the trains run on time.
Petty crooks and thieves are scum and should be fired when exposed and jailed when possible. No matter how good they are any any other part of their job.

Now shut your yap.

I hear you crabsnbeer. And I respect your opinion. Based on history, I know you are a level headed poster. However, I will defend Mayor Dixon on her accomplishments and ability. I am not dening that she has a questionable record regarding eithics. But I will say, I like her as Mayor. She is the best type for the job now. And she has backed her word up with action. This is rare nowadays for a politician.

so yes, I am defending her, and here's why:

this political corruption stuff ain't new. This type stuff goes on en masse. Why bother now? The masses/voters in this country are sheeple. They will follow any weak leader that say the stuff they want to hear, and castrate strong leaders (with the help of snakey backstabbing adversaries) for the little stupid stuff. Its silly really.

Ed Norris is gone. He was shaking this city up for the good....he was a crook too right?

George W was a very weak leader, who defended thieves, a has the Bllood of Americans on his hands. All to help is buddies get rich. And we reelected that bum.

cont........

at the very least, why deny good work she has done? Why hang her and give other sorry, completely useless, and 100% corupt politicians a free pass?

I just don't want another Schmoke in office. I want a strong leader, that is not afraid to speak there mind, and make tough decisons. Baltimore does not need another Mayor that will say and do anything to stay in power.

Give me Sheila the Shoe.

That's why YOU, sir, are part of a BIG problem. I'm going out on a limb and ASSuming that you subcribe to a similar approach to illicit drug trafficking, snitching on petty thugs who rip off your neighbors, hit & run's, car theft/jacking, vandalism, etc.

"This type stuff goes on en masse" ALSO.

Capitulation ("Why bother now?") has NEVER EVER eliminated a problem.

Ok. This is 20XX. Wake-up dude.

The problem is that this two party do-nothing system is entrenched in our psyche and history. We are more worried about our selfish interests. -------Voting along party lines and discrediting a Dem or Repub if we are of opposite party. ----And Just because.....with NO knowledge of the Party Representative's body of work.

With the way thing are now, local government is the only level that we have power. We keep the panderers in power, and boot out the play-makers.

Why do you think Norris and Dixon were picked on?????

Because they are interrupting status quo. That ain't good for a lot of politicos looking to stop that politician's and the city's kinetic energy. And it ain't good for the powers/organizations that need to keep Baltimore and the region in check.

Baltimore/Baltimoreans/Maryland/Marylanders and it's politicos cannibalize Baltimore. It very evident and it is DUMB, DUMB, DUMB.

EL-FLIPPO and Crabs do you want to go out this week to the courthouse and protest against Dixon? Afterward, we can go out and have a couple glasses of sparkling apple cider. Finally, after getting punch drunk, we can go out to the park and sing Kumbaya to celebrate our victory!

Jim, Thanks for the invite and the compliment. Maybe some other time. Things at work and home have been nuts.
If your point is that there are plenty of other crooks, I agree, and I wish that they went after them all.
It appears that Dixon's activities were very open and over the top. I Hope she gets jail time but that is never going to happen. She will walk on a hung jury and then declare vindication.

I disagree (It's certainly not because they're Black). BOTH were/are "guilty" of maintaining the status quo. You stated as much yourself with the "This type stuff goes on en masse" remark.

Now please be clear...which is it? - Really.

P.S. - And as a poster on another thread so succinctly put it...what Dixon (and Norris) did was just plain stupid!

That's a primo reason for getting popped. "Greasy palms" is bad enough without the added ingredient of stupidity. I can't use it.

I'll take Schmoke or Mitchell...
