Default MD Girls AAU - 2008

With AAU season just about one month away. Good luck to all the players/coaches/teams this yr... It all starts with commitment and sacrifice...

It's a business decision, $$$ saved can be used toward a more lucrative summer exposure schedule with goals of helping ALL of their players reach the next level.
It appears this group had a plan that shud topple "$1,000,000 in financial/athletic support"... 7 of 11 girls signed "National Letters of Intent"... and I hear two more may be forthcoming...

Thumbs up Expose or be Exposed!!

I remembered this post from last yr, so I had to go back and find it.. advice... two very high profile tourney's... Boo Williams and Deep South are approaching quickly.. about 60 days out.. get registered early and DEMAND the appropriate level of competition... exposure tourneys are about "expose or be exposed".. more so than win/lose, still gotta keep it competitive, so just compete hard the entire game... good luck...

Spoke with Jmack the other day, he says his only concerns this year for his ladies are Scholarships !Will compete for AAU Regionals & Nationals, but not the priority... Jmack, also mentioned to me that he was batting 1000, every girl that's come thru his system, that wanted to play basketball at the next level for free, has been granted that oportunity ! wether it be, D-1, D-2, D-3 or JUCO, they all are attending, he also says that he recieves numerous emails dailey from schools up and down the east coast looking for girls, mostly D-2 & D-3/JUCO, so if there are some kids out there that haven put the work in on the Education side, dont give up, your oportunity is still out there.

Wow. Sounds like a success story, but since anyone can pretty much play at the JUCO or DIII level, could you list some of the D1 and DII players? Obviously, a lot of girls have gone through his system so the list must be pretty extensive.

Very nice LET. Excellent article and job by everyone involved. If you combine the 2001 (12), 2005 (7), and 2008 MD Hurricanes that's a total of 24 Division I Scholarships from three teams. Saw your player profile packets - very professional. I think you have found your calling.

MD Hurricanes 2001
Keisha Blackwell Seton Keough Providence College
Lillian Drumgold Western High UNC-Wilmington/Bucknell University
Rayna Dubose Oakland Mills High Virginia Tech
Esther Ehrmann Roland Park Drexel University
Ashley Evans Centennial High Ohio State
Brianne Gray Northern (Calvert County) Elon College
Erin Jaschik Mount Hebron Columbia University
Maura Lentz Catonsville High Franklin & Marshall
Katie Nelson McDonogh University of Massachusetts
Jill Marano Arundel LaSalle University
Tracy Pucci Arundel Charleston Southern University
Kelsey Twist Roland Park Stanford University

MD Hurricanes 2005
Anastasia Baker Arundel University of North Carolina-Asheville
Stacy Hunt South River University Maryland Baltimore County
Alex McGuire Arundel U.S. Military Academy
Mercedes Robinson St. Paul's Davidson College
Xenia Stewart Riverdale Baptist Pittsburgh University
Latavia Vails Arundel Robert Morris
Sandy Wasserbach Catonsville Hofstra University

I don't know LET, maybe at the very least we can look around and find a summer or fall league job for you and your crew. I hear your schedule has recently opened up.

Great list of 28 girls who have or are planning to attend college. Thats what its all about. JMACK and crew should be proud. Looks like there is at least two or three players who made it to the DI level over the last nine years. Good news about the 08 players. I always thought Airelle Eldrige was a very talented player so it is nice to see that she will be playing at the next level. Where is she going to school? Please keep us updated about the AA County Shooting Stars girls and the schools that they are attending or will be attending.

Knowing everyone involved I would say they look at these ventures as a serious commitment from both them and player/parent.. no need to do anything "Half-A" cause it requires alot of ENERGY.. so I believe everything is still open for a coalition unite..

Thumbs up Tune Up for Boo/Deep South

With most private's done and public's about 3wks away, this is a good filler tourney for those looking to venture onto the national circuit... If you feel ur ready, request to play the "big dawgs" to gauge where you're at before the Boo/Deep South Exposures....

The Fairfax Stars' Tournament of Champions (April 5th/6th) is now accepting teams.

Many of the best programs in the country compete... Comets, Boo Williams, NY Gauchos, Phil Belles, Liberty Belles, LI Lightning, Dayton Lady Hoopstars, Fencor, Carolina Angels, Central Jersey Hawks... and many, many more , plus all of the nationally recognized Fairfax Stars teams, both Div I & II.

Go today to www.fairfaxstars.org to register.

Space is limited so register today! for top level bracket play....

Default Baltimore Coalition-Invited Players 15U

The Lady Lions, Comets, Starz, Columbia Hawks, Maryland Elite and Maryland Tigers recently formed a coalition to allow Maryland players a chance to play in exposure tournaments with other elite level players. We each submitted a list of players to invite to tryout for this team. We chose the top 24 from those lists. We held one initial tryout and will be having our follow up on March 16th. We are releasing the list of invited players to avoid any confusion. Some players did not receive their invitations. This is not an AAU team and we have an agreement around scheduling that will allow players to play with their respective AAU teams as well as with the coalition. I will provide the location, time and coaches info in early March. In no particular order here are the players who received the most votes for invitation:

Jess Harlee
Tiffany Taylor
Lindsay Garnett
Aura Payne
Sheron Vails
Lashay Taft
Deanna Harmon
Brianna Hutchen
Aja Walpher
Caitlin Bach
Chelsea Dukes
Amira Tucker
Recarday Bennett
Shatyra Hawkes
Tasia Bristow
Jenesis Jones
Melanie Williamson
Asia Logan
Ashle Craig
Nicole Dixon
Micquel Stevenson
Monet Nias
Shantrel Oliver
Nicole Hill
Janay Brinkley

My apology for any mispelling of the names.

Default Who?

Who is the mastermind that will not only coach this team, but handle the parents who believe their daughters should be playing more?

Unfortunately three of the HOWARD COUNTY kids are playing lacrosse in college so maybe we should credit their lacrosse club coaches. In addition, themamba happens to know DESPORTES very well and she is a fine student and person, just doesn't play at the next level. But a list would be helpful in updating the database.Thanks.
