Default Ghost of Victorian girl 'causing car crashes'

Ghost of Victorian girl 'causing car crashes'

19/05/2008

telegraph.co.uk

A ghostly apparition of a young girl is being blamed for a series of crashes on a stretch of country road.

Paranormal researchers are investigating the sightings of a girl in Victorian dress on a road in the West Midlands, which locals say is an accident blackspot.
The late-night visions are occurring along Oldnall Road in the Halesowen area and are believed to have been responsible for a number of crashes and near-misses in the area in recent years.

Investigators looking for a logical explanation for the mystery admit they are baffled.

David Taylor, chairman of the Parasearch group, said he had received reports that the apparition had been the cause of several accidents along the road between Wollescote and Cradley.
"Although the people who have reported the sightings didn't actually crash they were close to it because they had to swerve around the apparition and up onto the pavement,” he said.
"The area around there is an accident black spot and there have been some serious incidents so maybe they had seen the same thing.

"There could be a logical explanation for this, it could be an optical illusion of some sorts.
"For 22 years we have been running a group who investigate claims of the paranormal. Most of the time there is a logical explanation - but so far I haven't found one for this case.
"The image had been described as a small girl between the ages of three and five years old and wearing Victorian clothes.
"We are trying to find out any stories locals might have of the area which might explain what or who this could be."

Local resident Jimmy Lahn, 54, said: "We've had quite a few accidents on that road, I wouldn't be surprised if this ghostly figure has something to do with it.”
Resident say most of the crashes have been minor, but there have been a couple of serious incidents over the years.

"Almost ten years ago, on November 19th, 1995, Wem Town Hall in Shropshire, England was engulfed in flames and burned to the ground. As firefighters tried to stave off the inferno a town resident, Tony O'Rahilly, took pictures from across the street using a telephoto lens on his camera. There, rather clearly in one of the photos, is what looks very much to be a small girl standing in a doorway, with the brightness of the flames behind her. No one ever remembered there being a small girl present on scene, much less in that close a proximity to the fire. The photo and the original negative were turned over to a photo expert who decided that the picture was 100% authentic: "The negative is a straightforward piece of black-and-white work and shows no sign of having been tampered with." Okay, so what's a girl ghost doing in such a big fire? Well in 1677 a fire destroyed many of Wem’s wooden houses. The fire was said to have been caused by a 14-year old girl named Jane Churm, who had been careless with a candle. Churm died in the fire along with several others, and her ghost is said to still haunt the area. Whether there's such a thing as ghosts or not, it must be said: if this is just a trick, an illusion of smoke and fire that happened to be captured on film, it's a zillion-to-one coincidence that it just so happened to appear in the form of a girl who also died in a terrible fire at the same location. But hey, stranger things than that have happened in this world, right?"

I've actually picked up a hitch hiking ghost in SC.

This is a hoax. But they really nailed the experience.

The girl/ghost I picked up looked every bit as solid as this girl. The experience is very much the same. Except I didn't wreck.

If your theory is correct, Baltimore City and other american cities should be over run with ghosts of people, killed by violence.

Did you ever notice that the ghosts only appear in nice rural areas.

Ever hear about seeing ghosts in the projects of the inner city?

I wonder why they felt the need to swerve around the "apparition" when driving. Are they afraid they would of hit it and killed it? Or it would have dented their car?

I've seen that pic online of the girl described in the first post; standing in the burning building.

(edit) Here it is: http://www.paramyst.com/burninggirlimage.html

I only did two investigations in Public Housing ("projects") at the request of friends. I got a few EVP's. "Get out!" "This is MY HOUSE!" There was some poltergiest activity. But you couldn't capture that with one of the new Kodak camera's. Those were the days of, What's a Camcorder? Video didn't really exist. The big thing was trying get still photos of apperitions and what is now called EVP's.

When I lived in South Carolina I had heard a local legend about a hitch hiking ghost. So I decided to investigate it. The girl/ghost comes out when it rains. She had supposedly been dumped by her boyfriend at lovers lanes spot for not putting out. She was walking home trying to hitch a ride. A car pulling over to pick up lost control and ran her over killing her. Now she hitches down the road on rainy nights. If you pick her up she will give you direction to a graveyard. When you get there she is gone or disappears. It is the graveyard the girl from the real accident is burried in.

So as I was driving down the road on a rainy night.Sure enough there is a girl in a prom dress with her thumb out. So I picked her up and she gave me directions to where she was going. When we got to the graveyard she disappeared right before my eyes. I can only describe it as.......well she evaporated. That's the best way I know to put it. She evaporated. But when I picked her up she appeared to be every bit as solid as anyone else. I didn't touch her. I didn't want her thinking I was a perv incase she wasn't my ghost. In fact I thought it was some friends that knew I was going to this playing a joke on me. I was expecting something see through. Like all the other ghosts I had seen. This was my first and only experience with a solid apperation.

When I found that video on Youtube. It really freaked me. Because that is exactly what it's like to pick up a hitch hiking ghost from my experience. Even now that I know that video is hoax. It still messes with me. They really nailed it. They should get an Oscar for that perfomance. It's hauntingly familiar.

Did you let her in the car, or was she able to open the car door and let herself in the car? You seem to be a bit of a paranormal investigator of sorts, so I'm sure you know much more about ghosts than I do. Maybe this is a common misperception, but if ghosts are departed souls walking on earth, I just don't know how one would be able to open a car door. Also, did she say anything to you? Did you try to say anything to her? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I find this whole thing pretty fascinating.

The other night I got up to get a drink of water, and there was an apparition in front of me, it was Gerald Ford. He said "If only I hadn't pardoned Richard, I would have won! That peanut farmer was not qualified to be president, but they hated me, for pardoning the man they hated! Oh well, at least I wasn't responsible for the Iranian hostage crisis!" And with that he faded into the night, just as I saw an image of Ted Kopple saying.....day 278................

No problem. Yes she opened the door herself. Basicly she was a poltergeist (german-noisey spirit.) They are able to move objects. Open doors and even throw things. Paranormal theories on this is that they are able to induce kinesis on inanimate objects or manifest kinetic energy. Kinesis is the movement of an organism in response to light. What makes this even more exceptional is that she's an outdoor poltergeist. That is exetremely rare. Most outdoor hauntings are residual haunting. Like a movie clip playing over and over. She also qualifies as an intelligent haunting because of the interaction. Poltergiest is a sub catagory of intelligent hauntings. Yes she spoke to me. She gave me direction to the grave yard. I asked her a few questions. Like where are you comming from? She said the prom. It wasn't prom season. It wasn't a very long drive to the graveyard. 5 minutes tops if that. Some of the questions I asked went unanswered or were interupted by directions. I asked her if she knew todays date. No answer. I really thought it was set up by friends until she evaporated. Also she appeared to be wet from the rain. But left no watermarks on my cloth car seat.

No. I've only heard of a Crying baby bridge. But don't remember where it's supposed to be. I think it's out by St Mary's College AKA Creepy college. Your turn! Dish.
