Default Police: Robber shot by would-be victim

http://www.delawareonline.com/articl.../81125036/1006

Quote:
A 37-year-old man told officers that he was taking items out of his car when two men walked up to him and stuck an object in his side and attempted to rob him.

The victim said he thought the assailants were going to shoot him, so he pulled out his own 9 mm handgun and fired one round at the suspects.
In Maryland this assaulted man would be guilty of breaking the law by using this kind of self defense, and likely charged with a felony handgun violation.

the free State? what a F******' joke that is!

Stupidity knows no bounds.
Playing a stupid trick on an armed man is about as bright as that post of yours.

Right-to-carry laws evens out the playing fields and statistically proves that crime is reduced in states that have these laws.

That doesn't show causation. There could be other factors contributing to the lower crime stats.

Two people are robbed in separate incidents.
Person #1 carries a gun for self defense.
Person #2 lives in Maryland
Person #1 attended person #2's funeral today.
Enough said. Case closed.

I don't think that it would be funny, but you do raise a very valid point.

Not really. His friends close enough to joke with him would know he has a gun and carries it.
Think about it, if you knew a friend carried a gun (let's say a friend who was a detective or something), would you act like you were robbing them in a parking lot as a joke?
The hypothetical scenario of a friend play mugging just does not fit real life.

That's a big assumption MLA.

Me? No but there are daily reportings of far dumber things done by Darwinist candidates.

Sorry, I have to disagree and say that I can visualise such a situation occurring.

You have also missed the possibility of a case of mistaken identity, perhaps the 'friend' joked with a very similar 'mate'.

No assumption, he is an open carry advocate. His friends see him with a gun on a regular basis.

Birds of a feather....
Since he is a law abiding gun owner, he is less likely to hang with dangerous idiots...especially less likely to hang with people who are dangerous around people with guns.
While it is a remote possibility, it is highly unlikely to occur. May as well talk about him getting struck by lightning and having his go off from the heat shooting his friend.

Once again, he is probably more likely to get struck my a meteor.

Why do anti-carry people ALWAYS resort to the hypothetical when confronted with the truth as it exists, and the facts as they are honestly presented?

I disagree that you're showing causation with numbers. I moved here from a state that doesn't even require a permit for CCW anymore, and the violent crime rates are ridiculous. Read about it here:

http://dwb.adn.com/news/alaska/crime...-9282028c.html

I have never liked the argument that less guns will decrease crime, but I also don't like the one that states that more guns decreases crime. I don't see how either sways things substantially. It should be a Second Amendment issue, and I think the discussion should be around the right of the few <interested> individuals who want to carry to use a defensive weapon.

1. Stop shouting!

2. I am not anti-carry (If you are referring to me).

3. I do not "always" refer to the hypothetical.

4. luv-big's hypothesis was a valid one and worthy of discussion on this thread, and in itself it has nothing to do with being anti-carry. Don't be so paranoid.

5. Did I mention Stop shouting?
