V for Vendetta - I found this movie to be extremely powerful when I first saw it and love it each time. A just plain cool plot and story idea. The final fight scene helps too.

Easy Rider - Another very powerful movie, the conclusion in particular. Jack Nicholson is tremendous in an early, smallish role.

Once Upon a Time in the West - The close ups on Charles Bronson's and other characters' faces are my lasting image of this film. Just awesome camerawork that made my heart stand still and skip a beat at the same time.

American Beauty..just love Kevin Spacey's suburbia dad in the midst of a mid-life awakening.

Citizen Kane - A simple case of Orson Welles stealing the camera and entertaining the audience for two hours.

Ava (I'm assuming you mean Ava Gardner) wasn't in any of those. But she was in Night of the Iguana, one of my favorites.

Ingrid Bergman was in Casablanca, which I watch about once a year, mostly becuase Ingrid looks to die for in that film, and Bogie is...well, he's Bogie, ain't he? :)

Happy you mentioned Mildred Pierce. A terrific film, with Joan crawford, maybe her best performnce. Not too many people may know about it but TCM shows it a few times a year.

Anyone know the name of these two movies,I saw them but can't remember the it names.

One is where 3 brothers who are Jews in the 2nd world war leads people into the woods to escape the Nazi's.Their colony in the woods grows and they save a whole city of Jews. The second is a war movie, these guys have to keep a hill at all cost and when they do, they are marching down the hill to the ocean singing a song.Their replacements are marching up the hill and wonder why they are singing
