Safety Not Guaranteed

Darius is a young intern at a Seattle-based magazine and jumps at the chance to investigate the author of a classified ad seeking someone to travel back in time with. Along with Jeff, the staff writer, and Arnau, a fellow intern, the three go on a road trip to a coastal town. While Jeff just wants to chase after his high school crush and Arnau wants some kind of life experience, Darius spends her time with Kenneth, a man who believes that he has built a time machine. The closer they become and the more they understand about each other, the less clear it becomes if Kenneth is just crazy or if he actually is going to successfully travel back in time

Wonderful, Quirky movie. If big name stars were in this it would get nominated for an Oscar. I highly recommend it !!! :)

Across 110th Street

It pitted the Mafia, the police, and the Black mob against each other in Harlem. I first saw that movie in a theater in the mid '70's. Years later, I saw it on TV.

Great movie.

Also great is Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel, and the not so obscure to some, but worth a viewing to the young, Three Days of the Condor.

"Yhe Straight Story" is one terrific quiet little film that almost no one knows about. Not the kind of film David Lynch is noted for but very moving and it does have its Lychenesque moments. (The scene with the deer.) Another little known film that is a favorite of mine is John Huston's final film, "The Dead," based on the James Joyce famous short story.

The Dead was excellent. But then I've always liked John Huston's work.

Was that John Carpenter's first feature film?  Great little action/suspense B-flick. Cast of nobodies but, man, were they good nobodies. Still watchable today. The remake sucked.

That one is my choice for favorite obscure movie. Very early Christopher Nolan. It's the only movie I can think of that can only be truly appreciated (not to mention understood!) if you watch it twice... or more!

"one of my favorite scenes"

Gary Cole's has a long, varied career: he played Jeffrey McDonald in "Fatal Vision" in the early 80s & much later the very scary fake FBI agent in "A Simple Plan" (Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thornton), which btw is a great obscure movie.
