The leadoff hitter is up for grabs. Who should leadoff for the O's on Opening Day?

given his ST performance, it has to be B-Rob. he's a legitimate lead off batter. he works the count, hits to all fields and (presumably) still steals bases.

if healthy, all of those guys can do well in that role. but Roberts would always be my 1st choice

Nick is broke.

Nate is actually more of a no 2 hitter.

BRob knows how to draw walks and work the count - BRob for leadoff.

Or Reimold, if he can get on the field.

I vote for BRob if he can stay healthy. 2nd choice would be McClouth.

Roberts if healthy,McClouth second but is actually not a leadoff hitter. With Reimold's power and speed 3th, 5th or 9th.

I'm sticking with Nick if healthy. I loved the way this team took off when he got the gig.

2. Brob - more options with speed and bunting

9. McLouth -

If healthy

The lineup of

Roberts

McClouth

Markakis

Jones

Davis

Weiters

Reimold

Machado

Hardy

is an awesome lineup.

We're in a weird, for the O's, situation where you have two or three legitimate leadoff hitters and two or three guys who could bat cleanup (Jones, Davis, Reimold).

That is exciting.

I'd like to see more power in the three hole,I'd drop Markakis down. I think were going to see more power from Machado this season, not that he's ready for the pressure of 3,4 or 5 yet.

The one thing I've noticed with the O's over the last 7-8 seasons is that where ever their leadoff hitter goes, the offense goes with him.

Something about the talent in the leadoff spot changes the lineup dynamic. It's good for the O's to have options there.

I voted Roberts with an *if healthy qualifier. Markakis has some neck injury thing going on right now.

I don't like Markakis hitting 3rd at all. It just isn't who he is. I much prefer:

Markakis

Roberts/McClouth

Jones

Davis

Wieters

Reimold

Hardy

Machado

Roberts/McClouth

I don't like Markakis leading off because of his lack of speed.

That would be my question

My question would be "how fragile"?

I care less about speed and more about who is the best at getting on base.

It's generally a preference to have both. a guy who can hit and put himself in scoring position with a steal is an advantage over a guy who can't

Ill say Markakis if he's healthy. If not it'll probably be Roberts.

I want a base stealing threat at the top,Markakis isn't one. I like a guy who can steal second and score on a scratch single.

it seems like there are fewer and fewer of those players in MLB. the game is more interested in power than stolen bases.

How fast is Roberts these days?

I would go with McLouth. He hits for decent avg, has some pop in his bat, and can steal bases. I could see Markakis batting second, BRob hitting eigth, and Reimold ninth. That way you have Markakis protecting McLouth and Reimold protecting BRob.

McLouth - LF

Markakis - RF/DH

Hardy - SS

Weiters - C

Jones - CF

Davis 1B

Machado - 3B

BRob - 2B

Reimold - DH/RF/LF

B)

If Roberts had a sprained ankle he would probably be faster then Markakis.
