How can River Hill be ahead of Howard after losing to Howard by double digit points?

What has ECA done that Gilman hasn't?  I don't have any problem with ranking Gilman below the undefeated MD teams since they have 2 losses (albeit to 2 teams far better than any team in MD), but why is ECA ranked #2 with 2 losses?

I have to second the question about the experimental ECA. Why so much love for them?

Hey I can really explain why this may be, I think I've gotten the hang of how the cal prep/max preps rankings work... So I if you seriously want a answer let me know

I know how the maxpreps rankings work...my comment was more of an indictment of their methodology than anything.  They have a strong sos and lost 2 games against highly ranked teams by small margins.  I just don't see any truly impressive wins.

Well If you compare ECAs top three wins to the other top 5 teams in the state it looks like this....

#1 ECA

Two Top 300 Wins

WINS: #139 St. Ignatius (Cleveland, OH) (32-29), #297 Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia, PA) (36-28), #1644 Madison County (Madison, FL)

#2 Middletown

No Top 300 Wins One top 500 win

WINS: #378 Linganore (Frederick, MD) (42-7), #473 Urbana (Ijamsville, MD) (14-7), #2087 Westminster (MD) (19-14)

#3 McDonogh

No Top 500 wins, One Top 1000 win,

WINS: #941 Archbishop Spalding (Severn, MD) (23-12), #1035 Bishop O'Connell [Denis J.] (Arlington, VA) (28-14), #1440 Benedictine (Richmond

#4 Gilman

No Top 300 win, One Top 500 win

WINS: #341 Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, MD) (20-14), #941 Archbishop Spalding (Severn, MD) (29-21), #1731 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD) (35-14)

So you can put this into account and then add the fact that the games they lost were considered to be "Good Loses" Since they were against top 70 teams, and only by a combined 4 or 5 points.

Even though Gilman Lost to two top 20 teams, they were still considered "Bad Losses By the Computer because they were both huge blow outs.

I didn't realize St. Ignatius was so highly ranked considering they have 3 losses.  Imhotep is a solid team though.  I've seen them play and they are the best team in SE PA, I just forgot they lost to ECA.

Yeah. St Iggy had lost to top 50 opponents also....

I really was in love with imhotep when I saw them play a decent lasalle team, they have a very huge line, and speed to kill betweent there 4 RB Rotation, and a great outside threat, also had a very fast DE rush, with a great Defensive backfield to compliment,

I really thought they had to be in the top 5 of PA
