According to tweets from Roch.

'Orioles deal with Grant Balfour in serious jeopardy due to issues with physical that a source said "need to be resolved."'

'Orioles were supposed to announce signing today. Very possible now that 2-year, $15 mil deal falls through. Official word could come Friday'

isn't there someone in the minors who can throw pitches in the 9th inning. that would save money.

seriously, what does it matter anymore

Quite the offseason as predicted...more of the same ****...every year, same excuses. It's like this organization wants to lose

I TOLD YOU SO!! I've been saying it for how long now?  That this whole situation makes no sense why essentially Beane would want Johnson for more money and giving up a player when he could have simply re-signed Balfour.   We should have just kept Johnson.

Exactly, absolutely inexcusable to trade a home-grown player like Johnson.

At least they caught it rather than paying him only to have him sit on the DL.  Meanwhile, maybe it isn't something too awful and this could just mean they get him cheaper like the Sox did with Napoli last year after he failed the physical.

I just heard on the radio that they've pulled the offer off the table. they aren't interested in reworking the deal, they're moving on to Rodney or Perez.

If the O's pick up Rodney, this might be good.

Ok...hmmm Angelos?!

Balfour's agents say in a statement that Dr. Koco Eaton and Dr. Tim Kremchek saw Balfour today and both found him completely healthy.

Big surprise. I bet they found a spec of dust on the x-rays of his shoulder and practically fell over themselves to use it as an excuse to stop the deal.

This is pathetic. The O's descend back to what they were after the end of the 90's.

I wonder where the money that the Orioles saved on dealing Johnson will go? Hint: Some owner's pocket? Profit over team - the Orioles way!

I agree, we could have moved him to long relief or to the back end of the rotation (Jim Palmer's recommendation)

But the move saved the Orioles $10+ million...don't you see? Angelos now has $10 million more dollars in his pocket and the Orioles will at least play around .500 ball - good enough to keep most fans coming.
