Prediction Thread?

63 posts in this topic

Hey,

Perhaps I missed it but no prediction thread this year?

Let's do one...

The winner gets bragging rights and a $4.75 gift certificate to the Royal Farm store at the corner of Joppa and Thornton Roads.

I'm going to say 90 wins.

Schoop will be the everyday second baseman by the end of the year.

Not sure if that's going to be enough for a wild card berth or not.

Since it is late... I suggest we leave this open until the end of the first game. In the past we would have shut it down before the first pitch on opening day.

I think they can get 92 wins.

the pitching is much better, and the DH slot has been improved upon. and I'm not even incorporating the possible production that Schoop could bring. he wasn't even expected to make the ML roster, but it looks like he just took the 2B position away from Flaherty.

I think they've assembled the best oriole team in a while. I'm hoping 95 wins. Or more.

By the way,

  We can offer other prognistications

In the spirit of travis moon I'm going to say that Tillman gets 26 wins and the cy young award and is ordained bishop of Baltimore.

I do think that Weiters average will go back to around 255 and he'll give his usual 22 homers and 80-90 RBIs.

Chris Davis will give a solid year with a better average but fewer homers. 42 homers from davis.

84-78

Hey, what ever happened to thinking_man?  Hope he's ok!

88-74. Tillman wins 16. Gausman begins to look like a starting pitcher. Bundy does well in August when he's called up. Davis shows regression but still hits 40 bombs. Jones is an All-Star. Hunter is a disaster at closer. Schoop is a solid 2B (eventually). Manny takes a few months to get his legs under him but finishes strong.

Playoffs? No idea.

I predict the fans who complained about Jim Johnson will wish he was here by June.

I doubt it. They can find a lot of guys to single-handedly lose 9 games by himself without paying him 10 million.

86 wins.

I'm not convinced the starting pitching will improve as much as they are hoping.

87 Wins.

Unless NY plays to its age, and Boston has a regression year, with Toronto continuing its malaise, I don't see the O's making the playoffs.

They will, however, be one of the better teams in the AL.

If there's anything that would mitigate not seeing the O's in the playoffs it would be seeing the Royals in the playoffs.

92-70

They will lead the AL in HR and RBI's

I think 92 wins gets them at least a wild card. Either Rays-O's or O's- Rays

89-73. They are still in arguably the best division in baseball.

Starting pitchers 3-5 still need to improve, especially by giving the team more innings and reducing the strain on the bullpen.  If they falter at all look for spot starts by two of your least favorite lefties, and Gausmann being brought up earlier than planned.

Davis raises his average a bit, and hits 39-42 HRs.

Markakis rebounds and hits .290 with 15 HRs.

I like Tommy Hunter, but I'm not convinced he can be a shut-down closer. We may see a few guys trying to fill that role early in the year.

To confirm a prediction made months ago on another thread, the O's will win 93 games and come in first in the AL East. The O's lose to the Angels in the AL Finals and don't make the World Series. Weiters is the AL MVP.
