The competition is clearly better these days because of the growth of the sport, meaning these girls have absolutely accomplished something very special.  Congratulations ladies!

However, an argument can also be made that the streaks by Loch Raven and Mount Hebron that have now been eclipsed were even more impressive because their teams were comprised of whatever young ladies happened to lived in their districts.

But they never beat Gilman durring the streak, did they? Just kidding - that is a tremendous accomplishment! Imagine playing 4 years of varsity lax and never losing a game.

There was a good Sun article on the three streaks when McD hit 103. Loch Raven went a decade without losing (less games in a season) and played lesser competition than McD (LR streak started 3 years before McD went co-ed) or MH but also had players who didn't play club lacrosse or grow up with the sport. MH played better competition with players who knew the game more because they grew up playing club lax. McD can recruit but has also played the toughest schedule in the nation year in and year out, playing in the best girls lax conference in the nation and playing teams from Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York, along with the best the WCAC and MD public schools have to offer.
