The Orioles acquired tonight's starter, Bud Norris, one year ago today. In his 28 games (26 starts), Norris is 12-10 with a 4.23 ERA, 58 walks and 133 strikeouts in 153 1/3 innings.

Norris is 4-0 with a 0.52 ERA in five career starts against the Angels. He picked up the win on July 21 after allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out eight over 6 2/3 innings at Angel Stadium.

Chris Davis is out of the lineup for the third straight game as he continues to recover from the flu. Steve Pearce will play first base in Davis' absence.

David Freese is 8-for-20 (.400) with two doubles against Norris. Josh Hamilton is 6-for-15 (.400) with a double and home run. Mike Trout is 5-for-16 (.313) with three doubles.

Albert Pujols is 7-for-39 (.179) and Howie Kendrick is 2-for-14 (.143).

These are the games that are just so concerning.  When the entire offense just completely disappears.

I know theres plenty of game left but this does happen quite often.

There do seem to be a lot of stretches where they go down in order for two or three innings in a row.

I'd love to see league-wide stats on that sort of thing.

I swear I really believe it's not because we are facing a really good pitcher. It's the way we hit.

Just wait until we get into the playoffs or the World Series. Where we face a lot of really good pitchers. This offense really scares me. It's not really that good.

For the most part, they mash mistakes.

Machado's hit a couple decent pitches out recently.

Umm...

We'll probably face either the A's, Angels, or Mariners in the playoffs and we've done pretty well against them over the past 13 days.
