The Birds 32 road wins are tied with the Yankees and Athletics for the American League lead and is tied for second in the majors...In their last seven road games, the Orioles are 5-2 and the pitching staff owns a 1.86 ERA (63.0IP, 13ER) with 23 walks and 52 strikeouts...During that span, Orioles starters are 3-1 with a 1.96 ERA (46.0IP, 10ER)...Since May 31, the Orioles own a 17-8 road record, with a 3.16 ERA (225.0IP, 79ER) which ranks third in the AL in that span...Their .680 road winning percentage since May 31 is second in MLB.

A win tonight means we'll leave the Toronto series in first place regardless of the results of those three games.

To me that makes tonight a must win game.

I don't know, getting swept by Toronto would be bad even if we win tonight. Maybe we shouldn't talk about it.

I say that more because it takes a little pressure off.

Meanwhile, tonight's the night that the offense breaks out.

It sure would be nice to see Cruz and/or Davis start turning things around at the plate. My bet would be on Cruz, as he is hitting far better on the road this season. Check out the crazy/home away splits.

Davis did drive a couple balls into the outfield over the weekend, hopefully a couple will start dropping in for hits.

Agree that Cruz will turn it around.

I also think Joseph is going to continue to improve offensively.

Speaking of Joesph, I am curious about his effect on the pitching staff. There is no question that the rotation in particular has been markedly better since he has been the primary catcher. Just makes you wonder about the dynamic between him and Weiters, not to mention Wallace's addition as a pitching coach.

Everybody always talks about Wieters having some incredible knack for game calling and some magical ability to guide pitchers through a game. I personally never saw much evidence for or against this argument and have always been curious of its merit.

Of course its always hard to quantify intangibles such as this but if you look at the pitching staff's performance since Joseph took over that should tell us something.

Looks like the Nats have this lame long beard thing going as well.  That look is getting tired in MLB.

I agree.  I've made that point several times.

Yea but he should know better than to assume thats gonna be an automatic hit coming off Flaherty's bat!

Ok. Now we get the bat flip and the little skip from Ramos. It's on now.

Interesting analysis.

Uh oh.

Two runs allowed.

They're really gonna have to open the spigots to win this one!

Why were they at DP depth?

Are they expecting to score three more runs?
