The 27-year-old right-hander is scheduled to make his 6th start/32nd appearance of the season in the second installment of this 3-game weekend series vs. Baltimore.

• Will be pitching on 5 days’ rest after making his first start since April 25 in his last out- ing on Sunday at Yankee Stadium...held the Yankees to just 2 hits over 5.0 scoreless innings, earning his first win as a starter since June 29, 2011 at Arizona; had taken no decision or the loss in 17 consecutive starts dating back to 7/5/11 vs. NYY.

• Began the season in the Indians rotation (0-3 w/a 6.95 ERA in 4 starts), before shifting to the bullpen on April 29 where he held down a 2.31 ERA (11 ER/43.0 IP) in 26 relief appearances.

• Over his final16 relief appearances since June 10, Carrasco owned a 1.23 ERA (6 ER/26.0 IP), registering 23 strikeouts against just 5 walks, while limiting opposing bat- ters to a .221 average against.
• In 2 career appearances/1 start vs. Baltimore, Carrasco has gone 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA (3 ER/8.0 IP).

If I was the manager, I would have greeted Schoop with a one way ticket to Norfolk.

 

Lough actually drew a walk but the umpire insists on calling that pitch a strike even though it's almost a foot off the plate

This ump blows. Calling pitches 5-6 inches below the knees as strikes.

Yeah, I haven't thought an ump was this bad in his balls and strike calls in a long time.

With a runner on 2nd and no outs, Schoop's job is to advance the runner.

 

That either means a bunt or, better yet, hitting the ball to the right side of the field. Inexcusable.
