Odd to me that they brought up Clevenger. I guess my constant demands for Lombardozi will continue to go unheeded.

That Saturday game notwithstanding the O's just play better fundamental baseball than most of the teams they face. You rarely see the O's making the kind of base running blunders that we've been seeing out of Tampa Bay. While the O's defense is a nightly highlight reel what often gets overlooked is that they make so many tough plays look routine.

Hookay ... Scratch him from the playoff rotation.

Why can't this team develop a pitcher?

Gausmann probably should have spent the year at AAA learning another pitch or two.

He already has four pitches.

The guy's having an up and down season which is not atypical of a rookie pitcher.

Man, you are a panty soiler if I have ever seen one.

He's got one ... Barely.

Have they handled him right?

He barely spent any time in the minors and his time there he was hardly overwhelming.

Fastball, change up, split finger fast ball, and a slider.

And I jinxed it.

Fastball, change up, split finger fast ball, and a slider.

I can throw four different pitches.

That doesn't mean I have four pitches.

I can also take a slapshot but it sucks, so I have no slapshot.

And I'm not blaming him.

It's not like he's the first.

The part about Gausman being a pitcher who 'keeps the ball low in the zone' is simply not happening tonight.

Of course he can't finish the guy off.

He's just not good.

I've seen enough of Gausman to have the opinion that he is never going to develop into a true top tier pitcher if he doesn't learn to have better control of his pitches. He simply does not control the strike zone with any kind of consistency.

I also agree that his secondary pitches are at present mediocre.

Caleb Joseph is a heck of a player (throwing Jennings out at 2nd on the attempted bunt sacrifice).
