The Red Sox are about to pull that off.  I don't believe that has ever been done before in all of MLB history.  The Padres once went First to Worst to First.

I'm surprised Ortiz hasn't come up with some season ending injury so that he could excuse himself from having to play out the string of a lost season.

Didn't they go from worst to first in the previous year? So it's really worst-first-worst. Which only goes to show how much parity there is within the division, more than anything.

I hope their fans appreciate how much of a fluke season they pulled off to win it all.

I thought the previous "worst" was generally blamed on Bobby Valentine. I wonder who gets the blame this time.

I would have taken an O's World Series win in 2009!

The 1st and 3rd parts couldn't happen to a more deserving team and fan base.

Just like last year, when they were a surprise, this is also a surprise. I knew they weren't as good as their performance and record last year, even though National writers seemed to insist that were the case. Still, talent-wise they are an 85 win team even though they aren't playing that way. What I love is that this is the baseball of the pre-steroid era. What I always loved about that time was how even the playing field is. Surprises can happen. Momentum matters, and talent is less of a factor.

I said an 82 win team 6 months ago, talent-wise.

Just sayin'.
