Very nice arrangement! She is great and that band is pretty tight!

One of the more attractive double bass players out there.  Esperanza owes her popularity outside of the small world of jazz to public broadcast.

Don't forget the wonderful Tal Wilkenfeld. And she hasn't even been playing bass that long. :)

I downloaded two of Esperanza's albums, and I did not care for them.

Now, Jimmy Heath is my main man on tenor saxophone in the Spalding video.

It may be as much visual for me as it is to listen to her.  Looks, voice and the ability to play double or electric bass and sing at the same time has me hooked.

Rest In Peace Chris Squire.

http://www.udiscovermusic.com/chris-squire-r-i-p

We’re sad to report that the death has just been confirmed of Chris Squire, the widely-respected bass player best known for his work with Yes. Chris, aged 67, had been undergoing treatment, in his adopted home town of Phoenix, for acute erythroid leukemia.

I've listened to a lot from John Taylor. Great bassist.

Indeed, really never gets the credit he deserves. But being a bass player myself it's good to know just about every bass player I have talked to respects his ability.

No real faves among bassists, but a fave bassist tune is Villa-Lobos's "Little Train," by Niels Henning Orsted-Pedersen, whereon he plays melody & guitarist Philip Catherine plays rhythm. It's a joy & goes on for 10+ min.
