Daniel Craig hasn't actually quit. Yet.

Either way, who do you think should be the next James Bond.

He is how the betting is shaking out.

Daniel Craig can’t be James Bond forever. He has already headlined the franchise in three films, with a fourth, Spectre, on the way. With the actor and producers teasing that he could potentially retire his impeccably tailored suit any day now, fans are placing bets as to who will take his place when the job is done. According to some new buzz, Damien Lewis has emerged as a likely contender.

This update doesn’t come from any intrepid journalist, anything official from the studio, or even an interview response taken out of context and blown out of proportion. This comes from…bookmakers in the U.K. According to The Hollywood Reporter, William Hill revealed that it slashed its odds of the Homeland star becoming the next James Bond by more than 75%, from 25/1 to 3/1. This propels Lewis ahead of Idris Elba (5/2), Tom Hardy (4/1), Henry Cavill (5/1), and Michael Fassbender (7/1). While we may not know the intricacies or influences of U.K. bookmakers, this doesn’t seem to be anything more than a friendly wager among friends.

A bit dated but here goes:

Damien Lewis. Meh. A good actor but I'm not so sure he has the flair for Bond.
Idris Elba. If you've seen the BBC show 'Luther' then you'll understand why he'd be a great pick.
Tom Hardy. My favorite pick of this bunch.
Cavill and Fassbender I don't know enough to say.

People not mentioned.
Andrew Lincoln. Yes, Rick Grimes. Not sure he could pull it off for the same reason as Lewis. He doesn't quite seem to have that flair.

People not from the UK.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones. I'd think he'd nail the role.

Idris Elba as James Bond would be like casting Steve Buscemi to play Stringer Bell.  Great actors, and I'm sure could play the roles well, but neither is right for the part, truly, simply because they are the wrong races.

The time has come for a centrist political party. Rational Americans are not comfortable with extreme views to the left or to the right, and our current parties have no intentions of ever abandoning their ever increasing distance from sane, reasonable thinking.

Go watch the first season of 'Luther' and see if you still feel the same way. James Bond is a fictional character and considering the number of years the series has been around I don't think it would be hard to explain that James Bond is a moniker, not one actual person.

I just have never understood the allure of the James Bond character. I may be un-American...

Being a Kid in the 60's there will only ever be One Bond for me, Connery. The rest just Tried at it. Roger Moore? Never cared for him, he was the Saint anyway and I didn't like him in that either, too Prissy. Brosnan & Dalton, ehhh, no big deal there. Craig just doesn't have any other side than his butt kicking one, no humor at all. To me his Casino Royale was OK but since, oh well. Didn't like Skyfall at all. Spectre was kind of OK given how they showed Blofeld and his Scar come into the picture but that was about it.

Oldsters may remember McGoohan's short series "The Prisoner" which was really good. The Remake several years ago wasn't even close. I have that whole series. I only have kept copies of Connery's Bond flicks.

Anyone recall the Baltimore connection to James Bond?

It's time to re~write Bond history and make the next Bond a female. It is a shame that Helen Mirren is too old. She would be wonderful. :(

I would love to see Steve Buscemi play James Bond ~ or maybe Batman after Ben Affleck kills the franchise. :P

But David Beckham would be the most popular Bond ever!! :)

I'm watching Octo***** on the BBC channel as we speak.

Connery was and always shall be the ultimate Bond, but I liked the tongue-in-cheek scripting and  amusing special effects of the Moore era flicks.  :)
