Speaking of The Wire...

The Deuce is an American drama television series set in and around Times Square, New York. It is created and written by author and former Baltimore Sun police reporter David Simon (also involved in The Wire, Treme, Homicide: Life on the Street, and The Corner)..

The first season will consist of eight episodes. HBO made the pilot available through its video on demand services and affiliate portals on August 25, 2017. The series will officially premiere on September 10, 2017. The show's title is derived from the nickname for 42nd Street (Manhattan) between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue.

The Deuce tells the story of the legalization and ensuing rise of the porn industry in New York beginning in the 1970s. Themes explored include the drug epidemic and the resulting real estate booms and busts that coincided with the change. The violence of the drug epidemic is worsening. Twin brothers, Vincent and Frankie Martino, become fronts for the Mob while operating out of Times Square, which is also the home of "Candy", a sex worker who turns to the now legal emerging porn industry.

Method Man plays a role as a "Superfly-style" pimp, and the opening theme song is Curtis Mayfield's "If There's Hell Below (We're All Gonna Go)".

However the cast covers all demographics - not just urban Blacks.

***VIEWER CAUTION: Occasional male and female full nude frontals (and very brief male genital) scenes.

Check out The Orville

Couldn't get through a whole episode. Seth writes some pretty funny stuff but I just can't stand watching Him doing it on the screen.

I'm digging it. The right amount of funny with the right amount of serious situations. I wasn't sure I would like it but I do.

Maybe I'll take a look again Ken. Just that I had some hopes for his Movie, "A Million ways to Die in the West" and admit it had some funny stuff in it but I just can't watch Him acting.

He's clearly not winning any Oscars, but the show is more than him.  This is actually the first thing I've seen him act in.

Ken, well, I DL'd the 2nd episode of The Orville off Usenet & watched it last nite. Reminds me of when I 1st saw ST-TNG but Cheaper. Truthfully I never really got into TNG that much either. Only ones I really liked were the ones with Q in them. Anyway I can see he's Trying but it's just too Low Key for me and still can't take Seth as an Actor. Looked it up on Wiki and the ratings don't look good. Doubt it'll be around long. I'll give the New ST another try this weekend but to be honest I don't have high expectations there either. Maybe it's just because I'm Old & Cranky now. I hardly watch Any TV shows anymore exc old Seinfelds on TBS and the earlier TBBT reruns on the other networks. I just don't get into ongoing Dramas whatever the subject. I don't Care! I'm upstairs on my PC usually by 9PM till 11 then it's bedtime.
