Anyone want to predict who Negan kills?

I'm going to assume they stay true to the comic book and off Glenn

But I won't be shocked if they go in a different direction and kill a less significant character like Eugene or Abraham

Based on Steven Yeun working on other projects I'll guess they're sticking with the comic books.

Then again, in the comic books, Michonne hooked up with Morgan in Alexandria and Morgan died when the walkers breached the walls.

That's not a great indicator. Norman Reedus has appeared in several movies while on TWD

The actresses who play Michonne and Maggie are in the upcoming 2Pac biopic

I suppose we'll find out in two weeks. I had previously read that Steven Yeun had not been seen on set but now he has been.

The TV show only thematically follows the comic books. The characters quite often switch rolls. For example, TV Carol is more like comic book Andrea (who is still alive in Alexandria).

TV Lizzy and Mica were Ben and Billy, twin brothers, in the comic books and one killed the other. The group couldn't decide what to do with the killer kid so Carl sneaked out one night and killed him. The only person who saw this was Morgan and now, in the comic books, Morgan is dead. So Carl has a dark secret in the comic books.

Sophia is still alive in the comic book. Glenn and Maggie have adopted her.

Remember this scene?

In the comic books that happened to Dale.

So I am reading the comic books and I can now understand why season 6 was such a drag. They didn't have much to work with.
In the comic books the Alexandria group really is as pathetic as they were shown to be on TV. They couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. It got to the point where they resented Rick's group. Some of them wanted to rebel against Rick but that went badly as Glenn found out and Rick put a stop to it.
That said, in the comic books, most of the Alexandria story is about reflecting on the zombie apocalypse with not much else going on.

I'm up to the point where Rick just gave his speech to the group to go after Negan.

I predict the first episode will be some type of backstory to further drag out what everyone wants to know.

Kind of like what happened with Beth.

Spoiler alert.  Highlight below to read it.

In the comics, Abraham is dead before Negan shows up.  He died in the exact same fashion that Denise did on the TV show.

There will be a season 8.

Short of the show completely tanking.

I'm pretty sure they will get monster ratings for the Premiere this Sunday

Season 7 looks promising. Especially that new character King Eziekiel

I'm more surprised that Fear The Walking Dead was renewed for another season

Why? It's getting good ratings...

I heard that their audience is shrinking since the 1st season. Usually not a good sign

After not really liking how season 6 of TWD ended I decided to take a break from the shows. So I didn't watch the 2nd season of FTWD.

I just looked and... ewww.
Season 1 started with 10 million viewers and finished with 6 million.
Season 2 started with 6 million viewers and finished with 3 million.

By comparison, TWD season 6 fluctuated between 12 and 14 million.

FTWD still does decent numbers for a Cable TV show but anytime a show's audience shrinks by that much you start to wonder how it stays on the air.

I agree. If they keep losing numbers like this then I can see it getting cancelled or told to wrap it up.

Welp. Negan went from a likable villain to an unlikable villain pretty quickly

That episode was brutal on so many levels. It will be talked about for decades.

That is pretty much the way he is in the comic books. If you think it is bad now I got news for you. If they stick to the comic books he is going to get worse.

Have you noticed the one guy, Dwight, with the scarred face? In the comic books you find out how he got that way. It is nasty.

Looks like you and I were sort of right

We both picked Glenn. I also mentioned Abraham. I didn't expect Negan to take two main characters

What do you think about the show moving closer to the Comic book story lines?

I have mixed feelings on that. I think it's good for the show to attempt to stay true to the source material. But otoh, I think some of the things they do to stay true to the Comic don't adapt well to TV.

Last night's episode was difficult to get through.
